Step 1: Check if the Document Date is Within the Validity Period
OKX has a clear time requirement: the document must be issued within 3 months of the submission date. If it's older, the system will reject it outright, regardless of other content.
What to do: Open your address proof document and find the issue date or billing period. Check if it's within the last 3 months.
Completion standard: The date is within 3 months. If it's expired, get a new bill from your bank or utility company.
Step 2: Check that Name and Address Match Your Account Information
The name and address on the document must match exactly the residential address you filled in on OKX.
What to do:
Name check: The spelling of the name on the document must match the name on your OKX identity verification.
Address check: Compare the street, house number, city, and postal code on the document letter by letter with the residential address in your account. There should be no differences.
Completion standard: Name and address match exactly. If you've moved, update your address in the OKX backend first, then get a new address proof document.
Step 3: Confirm the Document Type is on the Acceptable List
OKX only accepts specific types of address proof documents. Mobile phone bills, payslips, transaction receipts, and streaming service bills are not accepted.
Acceptable document types:
- Utility bills from the last 3 months (water, electricity, gas, broadband, cable TV, landline phone)
- Bank or credit card statements from the last 3 months
- Driver's license (the address must be clearly visible and match the registered address)
- Government-issued ID containing current address
- Property management payment receipt
Additional acceptance for institutional accounts: Rental agreement (signed, dated, valid within one year), insurance policy (car or home insurance), tax bill or tax return.
Key prohibition: P.O. Box addresses are not supported. The document must show a real physical address.
Step 4: Check Upload Format and Completeness
What to do: Provide a PDF file or a clear photo of the original document. Do not crop or screenshot. The full page must be displayed. Blurry, glare-filled, or black-and-white photocopies will be rejected.
Completion standard: The page is complete and all text is clearly legible.
Common Reasons for Rejection
The document is not an original version: Screenshots, web printouts, mobile phone bills, and payslips are all not accepted. It must be an original statement or bill issued by a bank or utility company.
The address on the document is a "P.O. Box": This is explicitly prohibited.
The bill shows different "service address" and "mailing address": The review will use the service address.
You used a recent mobile phone bill: OKX clearly does not accept mobile phone bills as proof of address.
