OKX and Bybit both provide official pages to check supported regions and compliance status. OKX details them in its Help Center and Terms of Service, while Bybit has a dedicated supported countries page and a restricted jurisdictions list. Both platforms operate under MiCA regulation in Europe, but their geographic coverage varies slightly.
Step 1: Check Supported Regions on OKX
OKX's official Help Center clearly lists which regions cannot use its services.
What to do: Visit the OKX Help Center or Terms of Service page.
How to do it:
OKX explicitly states that, due to local laws and regulations, the OKX exchange is currently unavailable in Hong Kong SAR, China, and ceased operating its virtual asset trading platform in Hong Kong in May 2024.
If you are not in Hong Kong SAR, you can continue using the OKX exchange with a valid government-issued ID.
Technically, OKX runs three regional domains: Global (www.okx.com), EEA (my.okx.com, for European Economic Area users), and US (app.okx.com, for U.S. entities), each with different API endpoints.
Completion criteria: Confirm that your country or region is not listed as "unavailable" or "restricted" by OKX.
Step 2: Check Supported and Restricted Regions on Bybit
Bybit has a dedicated supported countries page and a clear list of service-restricted regions.
What to do: Visit Bybit's "Supported Countries" page or the "Service Restricted Countries" Help Center article.
How to do it:
Supported countries list: Bybit provides a filterable list (last updated: November 3, 2025). It shows that China Mainland and Hong Kong are not supported.
Restricted regions (Excluded Jurisdictions): Bybit's Terms of Service clearly name excluded jurisdictions, including the United States, China Mainland, Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada, North Korea, Cuba, Iran, Uzbekistan, Sudan, Syria, and others.
Completion criteria: Confirm that your country or region is not on its restricted list.
Risk reminder: Even if a platform is not fully blocked in your region, the products available to you (such as fiat deposits/withdrawals or specific derivatives) may differ because of local regulatory policies. For example, Bybit withdrew its Hong Kong SFC license application, but its Terms of Service still list Hong Kong as a restricted jurisdiction.
How to Verify After Completing
Before registering, visit both platforms' supported regions pages or Terms of Service. If OKX or Bybit services are restricted or unavailable in your region, the platform will usually alert you during registration or through the location selector at the bottom of the homepage.
Next Steps
If you plan to use one of these platforms, check their KYC requirements for your region before signing up. For example, both OKX and Bybit allow contract trading after completing basic KYC (email + phone). Additionally, EU users should note that OKX holds a MiCA license in Malta and provides an EEA‑specific domain (my.okx.com), while Bybit has its European hub in Austria (bybit.eu) – both operate in compliance with MiCA.
