To create an OKX sub-account, go to your main account's personal center. The path is: [Profile] - [Sub-accounts] - [Create Sub-account]. You must have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled on your main account. Regular users can create up to 5 standard sub-accounts by default.

Step 1: Go to the Creation Page
Log in to your OKX main account on a desktop browser, click your profile icon in the top-right corner to enter [Personal Center], and find the [Sub-accounts] tab.
Step 2: Fill in Basic Info and Choose Account Type
Click "Create Sub-account" and fill in two sections:
Login name and password: Enter an available login name (this can be an email or a custom string) and set a login password. This login name becomes the sub-account's username.
Account type: OKX offers two types of sub-accounts:
Standard sub-account: The most commonly used type. You can trade spot, margin, and futures independently, and also deposit crypto. However, you cannot withdraw directly. Funds must be transferred in and out through the main account. This is ideal for managing different trading strategies or isolating risk.
Managed sub-account: A special type designed to let a professional trading team manage the account. Once linked, the investor cannot trade in this sub-account — the trading team operates it via API. This suits those who prefer to hand over fund management to professionals.
After confirming the information is correct, complete the creation by passing two-factor authentication (SMS + Google Authenticator code).
High-risk warning: Sub-accounts share the same identity verification as the main account. Standard sub-accounts cannot withdraw funds directly — all withdrawals require transferring assets back to the main account first. If you mistakenly think a sub-account is fully independent and place large amounts of assets there, you will face an extra transfer step when you need to withdraw. Additionally, once a managed sub-account is bound to a trading team, the investor cannot trade in that account. Be sure to agree on profit sharing and risk control terms with the trading team beforehand.
Funding Guide: How to Transfer In and Out
All fund operations for sub-accounts are initiated from the main account.
Main account → Sub-account (transferring funds in): On the Fund Transfer page, select "From main account to sub-account", choose the target sub-account and currency, then enter the amount. Standard sub-accounts also support independent deposits — the main account can enable the "Deposit" switch for the sub-account on the sub-account management page, and then switching to the sub-account will give you a unique deposit address.
Sub-account → Main account (transferring funds out): Also use the [Fund Transfer] page on the main account, switch the direction to "From sub-account to main account". Once the funds return to the main account, you can withdraw normally.
Common Reasons for Failure
Maximum number of sub-accounts exceeded: Standard users can have up to 5 sub-accounts. VIP users get more. Creating beyond the limit will fail immediately.
Wrong sub-account type selected: If you plan to trade yourself but accidentally choose "Managed sub-account", you won't be able to trade after binding a trading team. You can only delete and recreate the account — the type cannot be switched midway.
Permissions not synced yet: After creation, the sub-account inherits the main account's fee tier only after 24:00 (UTC+8) on the same day. Trading fees on the first day may be higher than expected.

After You're Done
How to verify: After successful creation, you should see the new account in the [Sub-accounts] list. Try transferring a small amount of USDT from the main account to the sub-account to confirm it arrives correctly.
Next steps: If you created a standard sub-account and need to receive external deposits, remember to enable the "Deposit" switch on the sub-account management page. If you created a managed sub-account, first get the trading team's UID to complete the binding, then transfer funds in. Sub-accounts cannot complete KYC independently — if the platform requires identity verification for the sub-account, contact customer support for help.
