Bottom line: It must match exactly, and you should enter Chinese characters, not pinyin.

OKX and Binance have opposite rules on this step. When registering on Binance, you enter pinyin. On OKX, during the Lv.1 basic verification stage, enter the Chinese characters shown on your ID in the Legal Name field.

Step 1: Know where and how to fill it in

What to do: Complete OKX Lv.1 basic verification and enter your name correctly.

How to do it (App): Open the OKX App, tap the profile icon in the bottom right, go to Identity Verification, and tap Start Lv.1 Verification. The system will ask you to choose your country/region. Then you fill in your name.

The most important step: In the Legal Name field, enter your Chinese name exactly as it appears on your ID. Do not use pinyin or an English name.

After the name field, there is an ID Number field. Enter the 18-digit number on your ID. If the last digit is X, use a capital X.

Completion standard: After you fill in the information, tap submit. The system checks it in real time, usually within 30 seconds. If the page shows Verified or Lv.1 Completed, this step passed.

Step 2: Upload your ID for Lv.2; the name is checked automatically

After Lv.1 passes, the system asks you to continue to Lv.2 advanced verification: upload photos of the front and back of your ID and complete face verification.

How to do it: Follow the system instructions. Lay your original ID flat on a table. Use the rear camera to take clear photos vertically. All four corners must be visible, with no glare and no obstruction. Then follow the prompts to blink, turn your head, and so on.

Completion standard: The page shows Under Review or Verified.

Common failure reason: Mixing pinyin and Chinese characters

The biggest issue is here. Some users finished face verification, and the system automatically recognized the name as pinyin. Then they manually changed it back to Chinese characters. Later, some linked services such as personal IBAN showed the name in Chinese, which did not match their bank information.

Correct approach: Enter Chinese characters for Lv.1. Upload your ID for Lv.2. The system will automatically recognize the Chinese name on your ID and compare it. Do not change it to pinyin yourself, and do not use a different name in the two stages.

Risk reminder: It is basically impossible to change after verification

OKX's system rule is: once identity verification is completed, the verified name information cannot be changed freely. If you enter it wrong and want to change it, you need to contact customer service and apply. However, the process is very complicated, and some regions do not support changes at all.

More seriously, one set of identity information can only be used to verify one OKX account. It cannot be reused. If your name information is wrong and causes verification failure, you may need to restart the Lv.1 application or even close the account and start over.

How to check if the operation is complete

Go to the profile section and open the Identity Verification page. If it shows Verified or Lv.2 Completed, the name step passed. If the status is Under Review, wait for the system notice. Do not submit repeatedly, or you may trigger risk control.
