Don't panic if you receive a Binance request for more documents. This is not a penalty — it is a standard compliance process. Binance needs you to prove that "this money is yours and comes from a legal source." Prepare materials based on your income type and pass in one go.

First, understand the difference between the two official concepts. Many people get confused here.

First Understand: Source of Wealth vs. Source of Funds

Binance asks about two different things, but you usually only need to submit one based on the notice. Understanding the difference helps you prepare the right documents.

  • Source of Wealth (SOW): how you built your total assets over your lifetime. It is not just one salary. It can include your career, business, investments, or inheritance. This is your "overall financial picture." (Source: Binance Official Help Center, 2026-07-17)

  • Source of Funds (SOF): where the specific funds you deposited into Binance came from. It can be salary, money from selling a house, or redeemed investments. It is not necessarily the same as your total wealth. (Source: Binance Official Help Center, 2026-07-17)

Your notice will clearly state whether Binance wants SOF or SOW. Most cases are SOF, meaning you must explain where the deposited money came from.

Match Your Income Type and Prepare Documents

Below is the list of documents Binance officially accepts. Choose the one that fits your situation.

General golden rules: All documents must be in your name, clearly show your full name, the issuing institution, and the date. Documents from the last 3 months are best. Only PDF, JPG, and PNG are accepted. Do not submit Excel or Word files. Take clear photos of original documents with all four corners visible. (Source: Binance Official Help Center, 2026-04-13)

Situation A: Employed workers (including self-employed)

  • Payslips from the last 3 months, officially issued with the company name and your name

  • Or bank statements from the last 3 months showing "salary" entries and company transfers

  • Or an employment certificate plus bank records from the last 3 months (Source: Binance Official Help Center, 2026-04-13)

Situation B: Business owner / self-employed business

  • Tax bill or tax return from the last year

  • Or audited financial statements / profit and loss statement from the last year, signed by an accountant (Source: Binance Official Help Center, 2026-04-13)

Situation C: Living on savings / deposits (unemployed, student, homemaker, etc.)

  • Bank statements from the last 3 months showing your full name and account balance. If the money came from family, also submit proof of relationship (household register, birth certificate, etc.) and explain it clearly. (Source: Binance Official Help Center, 2025-09-16)

Situation D: Income from investments (stocks, funds, crypto assets)

  • Account statements from the investment platform showing your name, holdings, and transaction records

  • And bank statements showing profits received into your bank account (Source: Binance Official Help Center, 2026-04-13)

Situation E: Selling a house / selling other assets

  • Sales contract or settlement statement showing buyer and seller, asset type, price, and date

Situation F: Inheritance / gift

  • Copy of the will, or a letter from the executor / lawyer

  • Or a gift agreement signed by both parties

Situation G: Cryptocurrency mining

  • Mining machine purchase proof

  • And mining pool or exchange income records screenshots from at least 3 months, showing wallet address and transaction ID (Source: Foresight News, 2026-06-28)

Situation H: Gambling / lottery income

  • Transaction report from the gambling platform showing your account and the most recent month's activity

  • And bank statements showing the winnings withdrawn to your bank card (Source: Foresight News, 2026-06-28)

Common Reasons for Rejection: Documents Do Not Match

The name on your submitted document is not the same as your Binance account name. This will be rejected immediately.

The income source shown in your bank statement does not match the type you selected in the system. For example, if you selected "salary," but the statement memo says "transfer" or "payment for goods," the system may flag it.

Risk Warning: Fabricating a Source Has Serious Consequences

Do not try to photoshop documents or pay an agency to create fake ones. Binance's risk control system may verify bank statements for authenticity. If forgery is found, the account will be permanently banned and funds frozen. There is no appeal.

How to Check After Submission

After submitting, go to the "Identity Verification" page and check the status. If it changes to "Verified", you passed. If it shows "Under Review" or "More Information Needed," wait for the notice. Review usually takes 1–3 business days. Do not submit repeatedly during this period.
