No. After your ID card expires, you cannot pass OKX's KYC identity verification. According to the official OKX Help Center, "expired ID card" is one of the direct reasons for rejection. The system checks the validity period of your document during submission, and any expired file will be automatically rejected.

Prerequisites

Before you start, check two things:

  1. Whether your ID card has actually expired — some regions offer a grace period before expiry, but OKX requires the document to be within its validity period. If the remaining validity is too short, it is still advisable to renew the card first.

  2. Current account status — if your account has been restricted because of an expired ID, you can usually still log in and withdraw funds, but trading and deposit functions will be limited.

Step 1: Check the Validity of Your ID Card

What to do: Look at the expiry date on the front of your ID card to determine whether it has already expired or is about to expire.

How to do it:

  • Check the "Valid Until" field on the front of your ID card (the national emblem side).

  • If the date has already passed, the document is no longer valid.

  • If the expiration date is within 3 months, some verification guidelines recommend renewing the card first, as a very short remaining validity may also be deemed invalid by the system.

When you are done: You will know clearly whether your ID card is "expired", "about to expire", or has "sufficient validity".

OKX officially requires that submitted identity documents must not be expired. The platform's validity check is automated, and expired files are intercepted at the initial review stage.

Step 2: If Expired – Re-verify with a New Card

What to do: If your ID card has expired, you must obtain a new valid identity card and re-submit it for KYC verification.

How to do it:

  1. Go to your local public security bureau to renew your second-generation ID card. Processing usually takes 7–15 business days (expedited service is available in some regions).

  2. Once you have the new card, log in to the OKX app and go to [User Center] → [Profile] → [Identity Verification].

  3. Tap [Modify Verification] or re-submit your verification, select the reason for the change (such as "ID card expired"), and upload clear photos of the front and back of the new card.

  4. Complete the liveness check (face recognition) and submit the application for review.

When you are done: The new ID photos are successfully uploaded and the page shows "Under Review".

OKX clearly stipulates that one identity can only verify one account. If you already have a verified account, updating your identity document will not affect account ownership, but you must go through the re-verification process to complete the change.

Step 3: Wait for Review and Check the Result

What to do: After submitting your updated ID card, wait for the OKX review team to process it.

How to do it:

  • The review is usually completed within 24 hours.

  • Once approved, you will receive a notification in the app and via your registered email, and your account functions will be restored.

  • If rejected, the page will show the reason for rejection (e.g., blurry photo, information mismatch). Correct the issue according to the instructions and re-submit.

When you are done: You receive an approval notification and the identity verification page shows "Verified".

Common Rejection Reasons

  • Document expired: Submitting an expired ID card directly results in rejection at the initial review.

  • Remaining validity too short: Even if not yet expired, a very short remaining validity (e.g., less than 1 month) may be judged invalid during manual review.

  • New document photo does not meet requirements: Blurry, reflective, incomplete edges, or photos taken from screenshots or photocopies will be rejected.

Risk Reminders

  • Do not submit an expired ID. The system check will fail, and repeated attempts will only consume your daily submission limit.

  • Account functions are restricted while renewing your card. If your account is restricted due to an expired ID, it will remain restricted until you submit a new ID and it passes review – you can still withdraw funds, but normal trading will be unavailable.

  • Do not use another person's ID. OKX strictly enforces real-name verification, and using someone else's document will result in account freezing.

Next steps: First confirm whether your ID card has expired. If it has, go to your local public security bureau to obtain a new card. After receiving your new card, open the OKX app, go to the [Identity Verification] page, select "ID card expired" as the reason for the change, upload the front and back of the new card, complete the face recognition, and submit it for review.
