Here is the short answer: when a lead trader changes leverage, it will not sync to your existing positions, and it will not automatically change the copy trading leverage you set. Your leverage is yours to control. The lead trader changes theirs, and you change yours. Below we explain the boundaries of what syncs between a lead trader and you.

Step 1: Understand whether you are copying "direction" or "parameters"
First, understand the actual scope of copy trading sync. When you start copy trading, you can see a list of parameters in the copy trading settings, such as per-order copy amount, maximum copy amount, leverage multiple, and take profit and stop loss. These are set by you, not copied from the lead trader.
To be clear: copy trading syncs the opening signal, such as direction, coin, and open or close action. It does not sync personal risk control parameters like leverage multiple, margin amount, and position mode.
When the lead trader opens a long position, the system calculates a corresponding position for you based on the leverage multiple and copy amount you set. Once that position is opened, it belongs to you and exists independently from the lead trader.
Step 2: Who is affected when the lead trader changes leverage
Case A: The lead trader adjusts leverage on an existing position
It does not affect you. For positions already copied, the leverage was fixed at the moment your position opened. If the lead trader later changes leverage from 5x to 10x, that is an action on their own position. Your position still runs at the 5x you originally set.
There is no feature that lets your existing position's leverage follow the lead trader's change. You can only adjust it manually. Path: Open the app, go to Futures Trading page, then Positions, find the corresponding position, and manually change the leverage. Note that changing leverage affects the margin and liquidation price of that position, so review carefully before making changes.
Confirm that the leverage multiple shown on the position page has been updated to your new value, and the operation is complete.
Case B: The lead trader changes leverage and then opens a new position
It does not affect your copy trading leverage settings. The leverage multiple you previously entered in the copy trading settings will not change. New copied positions will still open with your original leverage.
If you want new copied positions to use a different leverage, you need to go to My Copy Trading, then Copy Trading Management, and manually change the copy trading parameters. After saving the changes in the copy trading management page, subsequent copied positions will be executed with the new leverage.
Step 3: When does it sync? Smart copy trading mode
If you are using Smart Copy Trading mode, the situation is different. In this mode, position size, leverage, and margin are automatically kept consistent with the lead trader.
When setting up copy trading, the system will prompt you to choose a mode: Custom Copy Trading or Smart Copy Trading. If you choose Smart Copy Trading, the system will automatically calculate the copy position size based on the ratio between your copy amount and the lead trader's position size, and leverage will also follow the lead trader.
You can confirm which mode you selected on the copy trading settings page. Smart Copy Trading has a note about "risk control sync" on the side, while Custom Copy Trading shows an interface where you manually enter leverage and amount.
Risk reminder: Do not assume that syncing the lead trader's parameters is always a good thing. A lead trader may be able to handle volatility with 10x leverage, but that does not mean you can. Even if position sizes are the same, total account funds are different, so your ability to withstand liquidation is completely different. Smart Copy Trading is convenient because it calculates position size as a percentage of your account and leverage follows along, but you need to figure out first whether your account can handle that risk.
How to verify the operation is complete
Open My Copy Trading, then Current Copy Trading, and confirm that the position leverage multiple shows the value you set. If you manually changed leverage, go to Futures Trading, then Positions, and check that the leverage multiple field for the corresponding position has been updated.

FAQ
Question: Will my leverage changes affect the lead trader?
Answer: Not at all. You are changing your own copied position. The lead trader's original position is not affected in any way. You are two independent systems.
Question: If the lead trader closes a position, will my position close automatically?
Answer: Yes. When the lead trader closes a position, the corresponding position of copy trading users will also close automatically. This action is synced and has nothing to do with leverage.
Question: Is there a maximum limit for copy trading leverage?
Answer: There is no extra limit. The maximum copy trading leverage is the maximum allowable leverage for that contract itself. For example, if BTCUSDT perpetual has a maximum of 100x, you can set it up to 100x.
