Which Bots Does OKX Strategy Copy Trading Support? A Checklist Before Copying

OKX's strategy copy trading feature is related to bots, but you can't directly copy someone else's bot strategy. Currently, the lead and copy trading capability covers manual traders in futures copy trading and spot copy trading, not automated bots like grid or DCA. If you want to "copy" a bot's strategy, the current approach is to use the okx-cex-bot module in the Agent Trade Kit, where AI helps you create and manage your own bots.

Here is a checklist of what "strategies" cover across different OKX scenarios.

Prerequisite: Distinguish "Strategy Bots" from "Strategy Copy Trading"

Many people confuse the bots in "Strategy Marketplace" with copy trading in "Trading Square". They are actually two separate sections:

  • Strategy Bots: Automated strategies you create yourself, such as grid and martingale (DCA). Entry: [Trade] - [Strategy Trading]. OKX's bot module supports spot grid, futures grid (USDT-margined/coin-margined) and spot/futures DCA bots.

  • Strategy Copy Trading: You follow other traders' manual operations in [Trading Square]. Currently it supports "Futures Copy Trading" and "Spot Copy Trading".

Determine whether you're looking to "copy a bot strategy someone is running" or "copy someone's manual trades" before proceeding.

Step 1: If You Want to "Copy Someone Else's Bot" — Look at the Bot Module in Agent Trade Kit

OKX does not currently offer a "one-click copy other users' bot strategy parameters" feature. However, if you want to create your own bot based on the same logic (grid or DCA), you can use the okx-cex-bot Skill in the Agent Trade Kit.

What to do: Confirm the bot types supported for creation and management in OKX's Agent Trade Kit.

How to do it:

  • Supported types (from official GitHub):

    • Spot Grid Bot

    • USDT-margined Contract Grid Bot

    • Coin-margined Contract Grid Bot

    • Spot DCA Bot (Martingale)

    • Contract DCA Bot (Martingale)

  • Functionality: Create, modify parameters, stop running, monitor status, and obtain AI-recommended parameter suggestions. For example, OKX has an official "DCA Bot Parameterizer" Skill that can automatically recommend DCA bot parameters (spacing, multiplier, take-profit ratio) based on current market conditions (EMA trend, ATR volatility, support/resistance structure).

  • Tools used: Operate via CLI or natural language commands through the okx-cex-bot module. For example, you can tell the AI: "Create a BTC/USDT spot grid with price range $60,000 to $70,000 and 10 grids."

Completion criteria: You have confirmed that the strategy type you want to copy is on the supported list, and you understand it should be created via Agent Trade Kit, not via the copy trading page.

Common failure reason: Looking for grid or DCA bots in the strategy copy trading list in [Trading Square], and then not finding any. Those bots are not part of the copy trading flow; they use a tool invocation logic.

Step 2: If You Want to "Copy Someone's Manual Trades" — Focus on Futures Copy Trading and Spot Copy Trading

Here "strategy" refers to a trader's personal style and parameters, not automated bots. The copy trading scope mainly covers manual traders.

What to do: Check the list of traders available for copy trading in OKX's [Trading Square].

How to do it:

  • Futures copy trading: Copy trade traders' perpetual contract operations. This is the most common form of copy trading.

  • Spot copy trading: Copy traders' spot buy/sell operations.

  • Copy settings: When setting up copy trading, you can choose between "Fixed Amount" or "Smart Sync" fund allocation modes, and set parameters like per-trade amount, max copy amount, take-profit and stop-loss.

Completion criteria: You have distinguished that "copying a copy trader's manual operations" and "creating your own automated bot" are two entirely different paths.

Risk reminder: The "traders" you see in [Trading Square] are essentially placing orders manually; their strategies are not bot grid or DCA logic. Even "Smart Sync" only replicates positions proportionally, it does not mean replicating all pending orders of a grid bot.

Step 3: Troubleshoot Whether the "Strategy" You Really Need Falls Within the Expected Scope

If none of the above covers your needs, check the following.

What to do: Go through the common misunderstandings one by one.

How to do it:

  • Case A (want to "copy" someone's grid/DCA parameters): OKX currently does not offer a public "bot strategy copy" feature. Alternative: Use the AI parameter suggestion feature in the okx-cex-bot Skill to get a set of parameters recommended by AI based on current market conditions.

  • Case B (want to "copy trade" a trader who uses a bot): Not supported. If a lead trader's positions are opened by a bot, they are not included in the copy trading signal source. The copy system only captures manual order placements.

  • Case C (want to find a bot strategy for a specific asset): You can filter public grid/DCA bots by coin or yield in [Strategy Marketplace], but you can only create your own or run them directly; you cannot "copy" someone else's bot under your name. If you find a strategy bot created by another user, it's usually read-only for reference.

Completion criteria: You have identified which category your target "strategy" belongs to — if it's created by a bot, your action path is "create your own bot"; if it's created manually by a person, your action path is "copy trading".

How to Confirm Your Approach Is Correct?

Before you start, double-check with the following two questions:

  1. Is the "strategy" you want to copy executed by a bot placing automated orders (grid/DCA), or by a person placing manual orders?

    • If bot → Go to Agent Trade Kit or [Strategy Trading] page to create your own bot using okx-cex-bot.

    • If person → Go to [Trading Square] - [Futures Copy Trading] or [Spot Copy Trading] list to find a trader.

  2. If you're looking for a grid bot, did you see it in the "copy trading" list?

    • If you did, ignore that entry. Grid bots are not part of the copy trading signal sources. The right approach is to run or create that bot directly.
