Why OKX Copy Trading Orders Below Minimum Size Are Skipped

In OKX copy trading, being skipped due to 'amount below minimum order' is not a system error, but because the calculated order quantity from your per-trade amount or ratio is below the minimum order size limit for that trading pair.

When this calculated quantity cannot meet the exchange's minimum order requirement, the system automatically skips this copy signal to ensure the order can be effectively matched in the market.

1. First, understand what 'minimum order size' means

On OKX, for any trade (spot or futures), each trading pair has a minimum order quantity. If the order quantity is below this value, the order will be rejected directly.

The minimum order size differs for each trading pair. You can check the specific value in OKX's 'trading rules'. For example, the minimum order size for BTC-USDT futures might be 0.01 contracts, while for some altcoin futures it might be 1 contract.

Prerequisite: You have already enabled copy trading on OKX and set either 'Fixed Margin' or 'Fixed Ratio' mode.

2. Why your copy trade triggers this limit

The system calculates the order quantity for your copy trade based on your settings. When this calculated value is less than the minimum order size allowed for that trading pair, this copy trade will be automatically skipped (failed).

Case A: Fixed Margin Mode

You invest a fixed amount per copy trade, e.g., 10 USDT. If the trader opens a position in a coin with a very low price, the number of coins you can buy with 10 USDT may far exceed the minimum limit, so no problem. But if the trader opens a position in a high-priced coin (like BTC), 10 USDT may only buy 0.0001 BTC. However, the BTC/USDT futures minimum order size is 0.01 contracts, so the quantity calculated from your 10 USDT copy trade is far below the minimum order size and will be skipped directly.

Case B: Fixed Ratio Mode

You set a 0.1x copy ratio. Suppose the trader opens a BTC futures position with 10,000 USDT, your copy amount becomes 1,000 USDT. But if the trader only opens a position with 100 USDT, your copy amount drops to just 10 USDT — which again falls into Case A and may fail due to insufficient quantity.

3. How to confirm and resolve this 'skipped' issue

Step 1: Check system notifications to confirm the failure reason

  • What to do: When a copy trade fails, OKX will notify you via email and in-app message.

  • How to do: Check your registered email on OKX, or the in-app/web notifications. If the reason clearly says 'single copy too low' or 'order quantity below minimum order size', then it's this issue.

  • When to consider complete: You have confirmed the failure reason as 'below minimum order'.

Step 2: Increase your per-trade copy amount or ratio

  • What to do: Adjust copy parameters based on the trading style and instruments of the trader you are following.

  • How to do:

    • Case A (Fixed Margin): Increase the USDT amount for 'per copy trade', ensuring that when following the trader to open any coin, the calculated quantity exceeds the minimum order size. Pay special attention to high-priced coins like BTC.

    • Case B (Fixed Ratio): Increase your 'copy ratio', e.g., from 0.1x to 0.5x.

  • When to consider complete: After parameter modification, subsequent copy trades no longer fail for this reason. The system will automatically apply the new settings on the next signal.

Common failure cause: Focusing only on the copy amount while ignoring the difference in minimum order sizes across different coins.

Risk warning: Blindly increasing the copy amount can solve the 'skipped' problem, but it also proportionally amplifies your risk and capital commitment. We recommend adjusting based on your account's risk tolerance, and don't invest far more than expected just to 'ensure copy success'.

After making the above adjustments, how do you confirm the problem is resolved?

After modifying settings, wait for the trader's next opening. Check your order history and system notifications — if there is no longer a failure notice for 'single copy too low' and the copy order is successfully created, the issue is resolved. If it's still skipped, continue fine-tuning parameters following Step 2, or refer to the specific minimum order size of that trading pair to recalculate.
