How to Waitlist for Popular OKX Lead Traders When Quotas Are Full
When a lead trader's slots on OKX are full, there is currently no public "waitlist" feature and the system does not automatically queue you. You can only rely on manually refreshing and setting reminders to "snag" a spot, or use a private domain invite link from the trader to directly copy trades.

1. Understand What "Quota Full" Means
OKX has tiered management for traders. Different trader levels have different maximum copy trader capacities. For example, if a trader's profile shows "Copy Traders 0/50", it means they can only lead 50 people at present.
When the actual number of copy traders reaches the limit, new users cannot directly copy via the "Copy Trading Square". The system won't notify you when a slot opens; it will only show a failure message when you try to copy.
2. There Is No "Auto-Waitlist" Feature
In the searched OKX official help center materials, there is no mention of any "auto-queue" or "waitlist" mechanism. The list of reasons for copy trading failure clearly states "Lead trader's copy capacity limit reached", but does not explain how to "queue" for a slot.
So, the core answer to this question is: there is no waitlist feature. You need to find your own way to "cut in line".

3. Two Feasible Workaround Solutions
Option 1: Private Channel Copy Trading Invite Link (Most Reliable)
Some traders can enable "Private Channel Copy Trading" mode. This means they don't display publicly on the square but only bring people in via invite links. If you can contact the trader directly, ask them to send you an invite link. Through this link, you can copy directly without being restricted by the "Copy Traders 0/50" limit on the public square.
How to do it: Find the trader's contact info on their profile or social media, and ask if they have a private copy trading invite link.
Option 2: Manual Refresh + Active Following (Luck-Based)
If you can't contact the trader directly, you'll just have to wait.
Step 1: Follow the trader and add them to favorites. In the OKX App, go to the trader's profile, tap the "Follow" or "Favorite" button in the upper right corner. Although the system won't proactively alert you to an open slot, you can quickly locate the trader.
Step 2: Regularly check manually and retry copying
When someone unfollows a trader, the "Copy Traders" count will drop from 50 to 49, freeing up a slot. Whoever clicks "Copy" first gets it.
- What to do: Visit the trader's profile at random times daily. If you see the "Copy Traders" count change, immediately tap [Copy] and complete the setup as prompted. If you still get a failure message, it means someone else was faster.
Common failure reason: Setting a "Maximum copy amount" also occupies that "slot". If you didn't cancel the copy but only modified the amount, the slot might not be freed.
Risk warning: Blindly increasing the per-trade copy amount or proportion just to "snag a spot" can multiply your risks. If the trader has consecutive losses, your losses will be magnified proportionally. Before grabbing a slot, research the trader's historical drawdown and win rate.
How to confirm you succeeded after the above actions?
When you enter the trader's profile again and tap [Copy], if the system jumps to the copy settings page and ultimately shows "Copy successful", you have secured a slot. At this point, go back to the "My Copy Trading" page to see the trader listed. If it still fails, keep waiting for the next opening.
