After copying a lead trader's grid strategy, if the lead trader stops their strategy, your copied grid bot will not automatically stop. The bot you run is an independent bot in your own account, fully under your control, and any action by the lead trader does not affect its status.

Below are 3 steps to confirm your bot's status and decide what to do next.
Step 1: Confirm why the lead trader stopped
Lead traders may stop a strategy for various reasons, and different types of stops affect your bot differently.
What to do: Check the lead trader's strategy status and the reason for the stop.
How to do it:
Go to the Strategy Marketplace, find the lead trader you copied, and see if their strategy is marked "Stopped" or "Expired."
Case A (Lead trader voluntarily stopped or strategy expired): Most common scenario. The lead trader may have stopped sharing because they reached a target, adjusted their approach, or for personal reasons. Your copied strategy does not stop automatically—you must decide what to do next yourself.
Case B (Cooling-off triggered by platform risk controls): If the lead trader's Assets Under Management (AUM) ≥500,000 USDT and their 7-day maximum drawdown reaches 20% or more, Binance's system may disable their trading functionality under certain conditions. In this case their strategy is suspended, but your bot still runs independently.
Case C (Trading pair delisted): If the trading pair used in the lead trader's strategy is removed by Binance, the associated spot grid bots will stop running at the same deadline.
When this step is complete: You've identified why the lead trader stopped and have ruled out any mandatory platform-level stop affecting your bot.
Common mistake: Seeing that the lead trader has stopped and mistakenly assuming your own bot will stop automatically, leading to an unmanaged bot that continues running under unintended conditions.
Step 2: Check your own grid bot's status
Copying a strategy is essentially a one-time import of parameters. There is no real-time synchronization between you and the lead trader.
What to do: Go to [Strategies] – [Spot Grid] and check the current status of the bot you copied.
How to do it:
Case A ("Running"): The bot is still running independently with the original parameters. If the market environment has changed, the lead trader's decision to stop may itself be a signal—evaluate whether to keep the bot running.
Case B ("Stopped"): You may have stopped it manually earlier, or it stopped automatically due to insufficient account balance, the price moving outside the grid range, or a system upgrade. Binance grid strategies automatically stop when the price breaks beyond the set upper or lower limits, and services may also pause during system upgrades.
Case C ("Completed" or "Expired"): The bot has reached the natural end of its lifecycle.
When this step is complete: You've confirmed the exact status of the bot in your own account, rather than guessing based on the lead trader's status.
Prerequisite: Make sure you are logged into your own account and viewing "My Strategies," not the lead trader's public page.
Step 3: Decide what to do based on your situation
Once the lead trader stops, you need to make an independent decision about your bot.
What to do: Follow the paths below.
How to do it:
If the bot is still running and you are comfortable with the current parameters: No action needed—let it run. However, it's advisable to periodically check whether the price is still within the grid range.
If the bot is still running but you want to stop it:
Click the [Stop] button. When stopping, you must choose either "Close and stop" or "Keep positions and stop." Selecting "Close" will close all positions at market price and immediately lock in your floating P&L; selecting "Keep" will only cancel open orders, leaving the positions for you to manage manually.
If the bot has already stopped automatically: Check the reason for the stop—was the price out of range, was the account balance insufficient, or was there another cause? If you think the parameters are still suitable and the market hasn't changed, you can modify the parameters and restart; otherwise, it's better to adjust them before starting again.
If you want to copy the lead trader's new strategy: If the lead trader publishes a new strategy, you must go back to the Strategy Marketplace and copy it again. The previously copied strategy will not update automatically.
When this step is complete: You've made a clear decision—continue, stop, or adjust—based on your own judgment, not on the lead trader's actions.

How to verify that you've handled it correctly
After you've finished, do a final check:
Check the bot's status under [Strategies] – [Spot Grid]: Make sure the displayed status matches your intended action—Running, Stopped, or Deleted.
If you chose to keep it running: Confirm that the current price is still within the grid range you set and that your account has sufficient margin to support further trades.
If you chose to stop it: Confirm that positions have been closed or are now under manual management, and check that funds have returned to your Spot Wallet or Trading Account.
