BNB Cross-Chain Balance Not Updated? Check This Hash First

After a cross-chain transfer, if your balance hasn't updated, first check the transaction hash under the "Token Transfers" page of the receiving address on the target chain (TxHash). This hash tells you directly whether the funds have arrived at your wallet address and is the first step in troubleshooting.

Why This Hash?

Cross-chain transactions involve two separate on-chain actions: the "outgoing" transfer on the source chain and the "receiving" transfer on the target chain. Your wallet may only display the hash from the first step. If you only check the source chain, a "Success" status only means the assets left the original address—it doesn't mean they've reached the target chain. Only the receiving record on the target chain can confirm final crediting of the assets.

Step-by-Step: Locate the Target Chain Receiving Hash

  1. Confirm the target chain: Which receiving network did you select during the cross-chain transfer? BNB Chain, Ethereum, Arbitrum, etc. need to be clarified first.

  2. Pick the right block explorer: Choose based on the target chain:

    • BNB Chain → BscScan (bscscan.com)

    • Ethereum → Etherscan

    • Other EVM chains have their own explorers

  3. Check the transaction hash: Paste the target chain TxHash you have into the explorer's search bar.

  4. Verify key fields: On the transaction details page:

    • Status: Is it "Success"? Pending means unconfirmed, Failed requires further investigation.

    • To: Is this your own receiving wallet address?

    • Tokens Transferred: Are the token name and amount correct?

Completion criteria: Successfully open the detail page of that hash on the target chain's block explorer, and Status shows Success, meaning the target chain transaction is confirmed.

If Target Chain Shows Success but Wallet Balance Hasn't Changed

This is common and usually not a chain issue:

  • Wallet network not switched: Have you switched to the receiving chain's network to check the balance? For example, if receiving on BNB Chain, switch to BNB Smart Chain in your app, not looking under Ethereum network.

  • Token not added: Wallets may not display new tokens by default; you need to manually add the token's contract address.

Risk Reminders

  • Receiving address ownership issue: If the receiving address is provided by an exchange, and the explorer shows success but your account hasn't been credited, don't wait—contact exchange support immediately. Exchanges may have delays or need manual processing for smart contract transfers.

  • Wrong network doesn't mean lost funds: If you hold the private key of the receiving address (i.e., your own wallet), switching to the correct network will reveal the assets; no need to re-transfer.

Confirmation Complete

After confirming the transaction is successful on the target chain block explorer and verifying the "To" address and tokens are correct, switch to the receiving chain's network in your wallet app, refresh the asset list. If the balance updates, problem solved. If still not displayed, manually add the corresponding token's contract address.
