What's the Difference Between Binance Pay Transfer and Internal Transfer?
The biggest difference between Binance Pay transfers and internal transfers is that Binance Pay is an independent payment module designed for "everyday payments and spending" scenarios, while internal transfers (also called "internal transfer") are a basic exchange wallet feature meant for "asset consolidation and movement." The former includes a separate PIN, supports QR codes and merchant payments; the latter is purely a fund transfer.
Core Differences: Different Functional Positioning
| Comparison Dimension | Binance Pay Transfer | Internal Transfer (Within Binance) |
|---|---|---|
| Entry Point | [Wallet] - [Funding] - [Pay] | [Assets] - [Withdraw] - [Internal Transfer] |
| Receiving Method | Email, phone number, UID, QR code | Email, phone number, UID |
| PIN Code | Requires setting a separate Pay PIN | No separate PIN required |
| Fees | Zero fees, no gas fees | Zero fees |
| Arrival Speed | Confirmed in real time | Instant arrival |
| Use Case | Shopping payments, red packets, merchant payments | Asset consolidation, transferring funds between Binance users |
| Supported Cryptocurrencies | Over 400 cryptocurrencies | All cryptocurrencies supported by Binance |
| Transaction Nature | Off-chain bookkeeping (no gas fees) | Off-chain bookkeeping |
Which Is Which? Distinguish by Entry Point
Internal transfer path:
- Log in to Binance, tap [Assets] - [Withdraw]
- On the withdrawal page, select "Internal Transfer" (some versions show "Transfer to Another Binance User")
- Enter the recipient's email, phone number or UID, confirm the amount and proceed
Binance Pay path:
- Tap the Pay icon in the top right corner of the App home screen, or go via [Wallet] - [Funding] - [Pay]
- Set up an independent Pay PIN (first time use)
- Scan the recipient's QR code, or enter email/phone number/UID to initiate the transfer
Use Case Differences
- Internal transfers are suitable for: moving funds between your own different Binance accounts, or sending crypto to a friend. It's simply the action of "I transfer crypto to another Binance account" without extra functional wrapping.
- Binance Pay is suitable for: spending at merchants that support Binance Pay (scan to pay), sending red packets, transferring money to family. It has separate PIN protection and supports setting a payment priority order – essentially turning your Binance account into a payment tool.
Common Ground: Both Are Off-Chain
Both are off-chain transactions that happen on the company's internal servers – the sender's account is debited, the recipient's account is credited, with no blockchain confirmation needed. Therefore no gas fees are incurred in either case, and both settle in real time.
Confirmation Checklist
Open the Binance App and locate the two entry points: [Assets] - [Withdraw] and [Wallet] - [Funding] - [Pay]. If you can enter Binance Pay and see the "Set Up Pay PIN" or "Payment" interface, the Pay function is ready. For internal transfers, you will see the corresponding input fields on the withdrawal page when you select "Internal Transfer." The two paths do not overlap, their functions are independent — finding the respective entry points means you've correctly distinguished them.
