Binance P2P: What to Do First When Seller Doesn't Release Crypto After Payment

When the seller doesn't release crypto after you've paid, the first thing to do is open the order chat window and send the seller a message with your transfer screenshot. At the same time, never cancel the order yourself. Don't jump straight to an appeal. Communicate first. Many delays happen simply because the seller hasn't received the bank notification or is processing other orders. Here are the steps, in order of priority.

Step 1: Send payment proof in the order chat

Open the chat window for that P2P order and send the seller a message with your bank transfer screenshot or e-payment receipt.

How to do it:

  • The screenshot must include: payer name, payee name, transfer amount, transfer time, reference number

  • Text note: "Payment made, please release crypto. Screenshot attached."

Completion standard: The message has been sent and the screenshot has been delivered.

Prerequisite: You have indeed completed the bank transfer.

Step 2: Wait 15 minutes and observe the seller's response

After sending the message, enter a waiting phase. Binance P2P rules state: after the buyer pays, the seller should release crypto within 15 minutes.

Scenario A: Seller releases crypto within 15 minutes → Transaction complete. No further action needed.

Scenario B: Seller replies within 15 minutes but does not release crypto → This could be a bank processing delay or the seller has questions about the payment. Keep communicating in chat, clarify the issue, then handle it.

Scenario C: After 15 minutes, seller has not replied and has not released crypto → Proceed to Step 3.

Completion standard: You know for certain whether the seller responded within 15 minutes.

Common mistake: Sending only "Release coins" in chat without attaching the transfer screenshot. Binance P2P appeal process requires payment proof; the screenshot is the core evidence for any subsequent appeal.

Step 3: Initiate an appeal

If the seller doesn't respond or refuses to release crypto, click the [Appeal] or [Help] button on the order page and submit an appeal.

How to do it:

  1. Select appeal reason: "I have paid, but the seller has not released crypto"

  2. Attach payment proof screenshot (bank transfer screenshot or e-payment receipt) in the appeal form

  3. After submission, the counterparty has 10 minutes to negotiate with you via chat. If no agreement is reached, the case will be forwarded to Binance customer support.

Completion standard: Appeal submitted successfully, case enters the processing queue.

Risk note: During the appeal, the cryptocurrency will be locked until the dispute is resolved. Binance customer support typically responds within 24-48 hours.

What you must never do

Do not click "Cancel Order" yourself. If you cancel the order after payment, the cryptocurrency is released back to the seller while you have already paid, leaving you fully exposed to the risk — this is one of the most common P2P scam tactics.

How to confirm after completing the steps

  • If the order status changes to "Completed", it means the seller has released the crypto and the assets are in your spot wallet.

  • If you submitted an appeal, monitor your registered email and the order page messages. Binance customer support will contact you within 24–48 hours. For orders over $1,000, the system applies a 5% spread protection threshold; if exceeded, the order may be cancelled.

Follow-up tip: After the transaction, check the seller's completion rate and positive feedback for that order. If the rating is low, consider choosing advertisers with higher completion rates for future trades.
