What to Do If Your Binance P2P Order Is Canceled After Payment?
Most order cancellations that happen after you've already paid are scams. Scammers exploit users' fear of losing their money to trick them into canceling the order. If you cancel on your own, it's very likely you'll end up with neither the money nor the crypto. The correct approach is to keep your payment proof, submit evidence through the platform's appeal channel, and wait for Binance customer support to step in.
Determine the Current Status: Just Canceled vs. Some Time Passed
First, check your order status. The steps you need to take depend on what state the order is in.
Scenario A: The order was just canceled (within 15 minutes)
- Immediately open the Binance App and go to [Trade] → [P2P] → [Orders] → [Canceled] tab.
- Tap on the order and select [Need Help].
- Choose the appeal reason: [I have paid but the order was canceled].
- Attach screenshots of your payment proof (bank transfer receipt, payment app transaction details – must show payment time, amount, and the recipient's account information).
- Submit the appeal and wait for customer support to handle it.
Scenario B: More than 15 minutes have passed since cancellation
- You should still go to the order page and submit an appeal, but keep in mind: once an order is canceled, the crypto is released from escrow back to the seller's account. Whether your money can be recovered depends on whether the seller is willing to refund or the outcome of the support team's ruling.
Completion standard: You have successfully submitted an appeal and received a ticket or appeal reference number.
If the seller contacts you and tells you to "cancel the order first and then we'll do a new transaction," refuse without exception. This is the most common P2P scam tactic. Never click the cancel button unless you have already confirmed that a refund has been sent to you.
Never Cancel the Order Yourself After Making a Payment
First, confirm whether you actively clicked the "Cancel Order" button.
- If you already paid but canceled the order yourself, the crypto has been released from escrow back to the seller. Binance cannot force the seller to refund you. You can only try to negotiate with the seller to get your money back.
- If the order was automatically canceled by the system (for example, because you didn't mark the payment as completed before the timer ran out), you also need to contact customer support and provide payment proof.
- If the order was canceled through the seller's "Quick Cancel" feature, the funds have likewise been released back to the seller. This situation also needs to be handled through customer support.
Completion standard: Check whether you yourself clicked the cancel button, and use that to assess how hard it will be to get your money back.
Common reasons for failure:
- Believing a seller who says "there's a problem with the transaction, cancel it and let's start over," leading you to cancel the order yourself.
- Forgetting to click "I have paid" on the order page after making the payment, which causes the order to time out and be automatically canceled by the system.
- The payment amount not matching the order amount, which the seller uses as an excuse to refuse to release the crypto and apply for cancellation.
Risk reminders:
- P2P scams are widespread: fraudsters use excuses like "system error" or "need to redo the transaction" to trick buyers into canceling orders after payment, then disappear with the money.
- Keep all communication inside the platform: Do not chat with sellers through external channels like WeChat or Telegram. Binance's dispute system cannot pull external chat records as evidence.
- Customer support response time: Binance support typically contacts both parties within 24–48 hours after you submit an appeal.
How to know your case is being handled properly:
After submitting the appeal, if you can see the appeal status on the order page as "Processing" and you have received a system confirmation message, the process is moving forward normally. Keep the order chat page open; customer support may reach out to you there for additional information. Whether your funds can be recovered depends on the strength of your evidence and the seller's willingness to cooperate. Payment proof that includes payment time, amount, and recipient account details is the core evidence for protecting your rights. If support determines that the buyer is not at fault, they will assist by contacting the seller for a refund or taking other appropriate action.
