For a new account, the entry point to set up a Passkey is in the "Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)" section of theSecurity Center. Find the "Passkey" option and follow the prompts to bind it. Once set up, important operations such as login and withdrawals will support fingerprint, facial recognition, or device PIN verification, which is more secure and convenient than simply entering a password.

1. What is a Passkey?

A Passkey is essentially a "passwordless login" methodbased on public-key cryptography — the private key is securely stored on your device and never transmitted over the network, effectively protecting against phishing attacks and SIM swapping. After setting it up, you can use fingerprint, facial recognition, or device PIN to complete verification without needing to remember complex passwords or receive SMS codes.

The Passkey is the recommended primary two-factor authentication method byBinance, and is more secure than traditional SMS or email verification.

2. Steps to Set Up on the App

  1. Open the Binance app and log in to your account

  2. Tap thehamburger menu (three lines)in the top left corner → go toPersonal CenterorAccount

  3. SelectAccount Security→ findPasskeyorPasskey (Biometric)

  4. TapAdd PasskeyorAdd Authenticator

  5. When the system prompt appears, tapContinueand confirm your account email address

  6. Follow the device prompts to complete biometric verification (Face ID / fingerprint) or screen lock verification

  7. After successful binding, the new entry will appear in the Passkey list

Notes:

  • On iOS devices, if iCloud Keychain is not enabled, you need to enable it first before adding a Passkey

  • On Android devices, the screen lock/PIN is typically used as the verification method

3. Steps to Set Up on the Web

  1. Log in to the Binance website, hover over theprofile iconin the top right corner → clickAccount

  2. Go toSecurity Settings→ find thePasskeysection, clickManageorEnable

  3. ClickAdd PasskeyorAdd Authenticator

  4. Complete the existing 2FA verification (SMS/Email/Google Authenticator)

  5. Follow the browser prompts to complete the binding — if you have already created a Passkey on your phone, the web page will show a QR code; scan it with the Binance app to complete verification

4. Additional Configuration: "Require Passkey for Important Operations"

After binding a Passkey, you can enable theRequire Passkey for Important Operationsfeature in thePasskey Managementsection. Once enabled, critical operations like login and withdrawals will be forced to use Passkey verification, further enhancing security.

Before enabling, please confirm the following:

  • Ensure that the Passkey is set up and available on your commonly used devices

  • If you change your phone, log in to a new iCloud account, or reinstall the app, you need to disable this feature in advance; otherwise, you may be unable to log in due to the inability to use the Passkey

5. Common Failure Reasons

  • Device not supported: Passkey requires the device to have biometric capabilities (fingerprint/face) or a screen lock function

  • iCloud Keychain not enabled on iOS: Enable it in settings before proceeding

  • System time out of sync: A time difference between the device and network time may cause verification failure

  • Outdated browser version: On the web, use the latest version of Chrome, Safari, or Firefox

  • Hardware security key already bound: When adding, you need to select the "Security Key" option

After setup, log out and log back in once— on the login page, choose the Passkey verification method to confirm you can access your account normally. If you use multiple devices, it is recommended to bind the Passkey on all your commonly used devices to avoid login difficulties if a single device is unavailable.
