How to Appeal When Payer's Name Doesn't Match on Binance P2P

If the payer's name is inconsistent, you must appeal and not release the crypto. This is a clearly prohibited violation on Binance P2P. When the payer's name does not match the Binance identity verification information, the seller must refund and cancel the order. Here are the exact steps to follow.

Step 1: Confirm the Type of Mismatch

You may encounter two scenarios, which are handled differently:

Case A: The name on the bank account used for payment ≠ the verified name on the buyer's Binance account → This is a typical "third-party payment." The buyer has violated platform rules. Binance P2P requires that the payment account name must match the Binance verified name.

Case B: The buyer asks you to refund to an account whose name does not match the order → Refuse outright. Only refund via the original route (back to the same account that sent the payment). Never transfer money to any other account.

Completion criteria: You can clearly identify which type of mismatch occurred.

Prerequisite: The trade order has not been released. The crypto is in escrow, so you have control of the situation.

Step 2: Clearly Inform the Counterparty in the Order Chat

Tell the buyer directly in the order chat box that the payer's name does not match the verified information, and that platform rules prevent you from releasing the crypto.

How to do it: Send a text message. Do not call or communicate via WeChat or outside apps. Keep all communication on the platform chat so customer support can review it.

Completion criteria: A clear explanatory message has been sent.

Common reason for failure: The buyer says in chat, "It's my friend's/wife's card, it's fine" — do not accept this. Platform rules only recognize the Binance verified name; no verbal explanation is acceptable.

Step 3: File an Appeal

If you cannot reach an agreement, click the [Help] or [Appeal] button on the order details page and submit an appeal.

Select the reason: "Payment received from a third-party account" or "Payer name does not match platform information."

Evidence to submit:

  • Screenshot of the bank transfer (showing payer's name, amount, time)

  • Screenshot of the order details page

  • If required by the platform, a video recording of your banking app operation to show the fact that the payer's name differs from the order buyer's information

Completion criteria: Appeal successfully submitted, with an appeal record generated.

Step 4: Refund

This is the critical step. Binance's official handling requirement for such situations is: The seller must refund the money via the original route back to the source account of the payment, provide proof of refund, and then the order will be cancelled.

How to do it:

  1. Use the incoming bank transfer record to find the payer's account details.

  2. Refund the exact amount back to the same account.

  3. Save the screenshot or bank receipt confirming the successful refund.

Completion criteria: Refund completed, with refund proof obtained.

Risk warnings:

  • Do not release the crypto — releasing crypto when the payer's name does not match risks the other party initiating a bank transfer reversal, leaving you with neither crypto nor money.

  • Do not negotiate privately — only follow the platform process and keep all actions recorded on the P2P order page. Private settlements cannot be traced; if problems arise later, the platform will not intervene.

  • If you haven't received a response after filing an appeal, Binance customer service typically responds within 24-48 hours; complex cases may take longer. Follow up through official channels after one week.

Post-Appeal Result Confirmation

After the appeal is submitted, the order status changes to "dispute." Binance customer service will then intervene. All you need to do is provide further materials if requested by the platform. The order will eventually be cancelled and your assets released back to your account.

If you frequently encounter payer name mismatches, check your advertisement settings or the rating of your trading counterparties, and choose buyers with high completion rates and good reviews.
