Binance P2P: Payee Name Mismatch? Reject or Appeal?

If you find that the payee's name does not match the platform's real-name verification, do not rush to click "Appeal" right away. There is no need to struggle with this situation. The correct action is to clearly reject the transaction, ask the other party to refund the money through the original route, and then cancel the order. This is not the platform blocking you; it is a hard rule in C2C trading.

Step 1: Confirm the Platform's Requirement for "Name Match"

In Binance C2C trading rules, there is a clear bottom line: all transactions must use accounts that match the platform's real-name verification information for receiving and sending payments. Whether you are selling or buying crypto, the payment account name must match the other party's verified real name on Binance.

If you are selling crypto and find that the bank account name used by the buyer does not match the buyer's name shown on the Binance order, the buyer has violated the trading rules. In this case, you must not release the coins, because once you release them, your asset safety may be affected if a fund dispute occurs later.

Step 2: If You Are the Seller and the Name Does Not Match, Reject, Request Refund, and Cancel the Order

[What to do]: Handle this order according to the official C2C rules. Do not negotiate other compromise solutions on your own.

[How to do it]:

  1. Do not release the coins. Stop at the payment confirmation page and do not click "Release" or "Confirm Release".

  2. Contact the buyer through the order chat window and clearly tell them: "Your payment account name does not match the platform's real-name verification information. According to Binance C2C rules, I cannot release the coins. Please refund the money through the original route and then cancel the order." Keep the communication record within the platform so customer support can track it later.

  3. Ask the buyer to refund the money through the original route: the money must go back to the account that made the payment, not through other channels.

  4. If the buyer agrees to refund, wait until you confirm the refund has arrived, then cancel the transaction on the order page. If the buyer does not cooperate or communication fails, click [Appeal] directly and submit the payment record and chat screenshots. Receiving payment from a third-party account is a clear reason for the seller to file an appeal.

[Completion standard]: The order is cancelled, or an appeal has been submitted and customer support has stepped in to handle it.

Common reason for failure: Some people think "the money has arrived, so it should be fine" — but mismatched payment accounts are explicitly prohibited in Binance C2C. If the buyer initiates a dispute after you release the coins, the seller may face fund risks or even have their C2C function suspended. This is not "unnecessary trouble"; it is about protecting yourself.

Step 3: If You Are the Buyer and Find the Payee Name Does Not Match

Before making a payment, the buyer should also check whether the seller's receiving account name matches the platform verification. C2C merchants' receiving accounts must match their platform real-name verification.

If you find that the information does not match, do not make the payment. Cancel the order directly and choose another merchant to trade with. Once you have paid and then discover a problem with the account information, recovering the funds will be very troublesome.

How to verify completion: If the refund is successful and the order is cancelled, the order status will show "Cancelled". If an appeal has been submitted, the order status will change to "Under Review", and customer support will handle it within 24-48 hours.

Next step: Go to [C2C] - [Orders] in the Binance App and check the status of the order you just handled. If it shows "Appeal in progress", keep your phone available, as customer support may contact you by email or in-app message to request additional materials.
