What to Do If Your Binance Verification Name Doesn't Match Your ID?
If you find that the name on your identity verification doesn't match your ID document, do not try to re-register or repeatedly submit the same incorrect information. The only correct path is to submit a formal name correction request through Binance's "Update Identity Verification" process or by contacting customer support.

Prerequisites
Before you start the correction, make sure of one thing: you have a new, valid identification document, and the name on that document is the exact "correct name" you need to update to. Binance does not allow name changes without supporting documentation.
Step 1: Log in to your account and check your verification status and details
What to do: Log in to your Binance account, go to the identity verification page, and confirm exactly how your current name differs from your ID document.
How to do it:
Log in to the Binance app or website and go to [User Center] — [Identity Verification].
Check the "Legal Name" displayed on the page, comparing it character by character with your original ID document.
Common types of mismatches:
Spelling errors in the Pinyin name (e.g., "Wang" typed as "Wong")
Name order reversed (surname and given name filled in backwards)
Extra spaces or missing spaces in the Pinyin name
Using a Chinese character name when the ID shows a Pinyin name (or vice versa)
When is this step complete: You know clearly what the incorrect name currently displayed is, what the correct name on your ID is, and exactly which characters differ.
Once you have submitted your name, the system will not let you edit it directly on the page. After submission, the name field becomes locked.
Step 2: Submit a correction request through "Update Identity Verification"
What to do: Go to Binance's identity verification update page, select the correct reason for the update, and upload your new ID document.
How to do it:
On the [Identity Verification] page, look for the "Update Identity Information" or "Reset KYC" entry.
If you cannot find the entry on the page, send "How to update Identity Verification" to the online customer support. The support reply will include a reset link.
On the update page, choose the update reason: "Name has changed on my ID document".
Carefully read the declaration terms, tick [I understand and agree to this declaration], and click [Confirm Update].
Fill in the updated personal information (the name spelling that matches your ID) and upload the front and back photos of your new ID document.
Submit and wait for review.
When is this step complete: The page shows "Submission successful" and your account enters the "Under Review" state.
Important reminder: After you submit an update application, your account will be immediately switched to "withdrawal-only" mode. You will not be able to trade, deposit, or perform other operations until the review is approved.
Step 3: If there is no update entry on the page, contact customer support
What to do: If the [Identity Verification] page does not show an "Update Identity Information" or "Reset KYC" button, you need to submit a name change request through customer support.
How to do it:
Open the Binance app or website, tap [Support] in the bottom right corner, and start a live chat with support.
Type "How to update Identity Verification". The support agent will automatically reply with a link to reset your KYC.
Or simply describe that your name does not match your ID and you need a correction. Follow the support agent's instructions to submit a selfie holding your ID, photos of the front and back of your ID, and other supplementary documents.
Some users report: if you used a passport for KYC, the system sometimes automatically recognizes the name in Pinyin rather than in Chinese characters, causing a mismatch with the name you originally entered. In such cases you can also try resubmitting your passport verification.
When is this step complete: Customer support has accepted your request, or you have successfully entered the update process through the reset link provided.
Common Reasons for Failure
Many people try to edit their name directly on the "Personal Information" page, but that field is locked after KYC submission and cannot be manually changed. Another common mistake is choosing "ID has expired" instead of "Name has changed" as the update reason, which leads to a rejection because the reason does not match the actual situation.

Risk Reminder
Do not attempt to use someone else's ID to apply for a correction by impersonating them. Binance carries out facial recognition and document comparison; if identity fraud is detected, the account will be frozen.
Submitting false information or forged documents gives Binance the right to permanently freeze the account and report it to regulatory authorities.
Next step: Go to the [Identity Verification] page, first confirm the differences between the name currently displayed and the name that needs to be corrected. Then submit a correction request through the "Update Identity Information" entry or online customer support. After submission, keep an eye on your email and in-app notifications. The review is usually completed within a few business days — during this period your account is in "withdrawal-only" mode. If you need to use trading functions, you must wait until the review is approved.
