A Chinese address proof is completely acceptable for Binance KYC. You do not need to translate it into English. Binance's system automatically recognizes multiple languages. It officially supports high-accuracy OCR recognition for 23 languages, and Chinese characters are fully within the recognizable range. You can simply take a photo or screenshot of your domestic utility bill or bank statement and upload it.

However, you must make sure the document itself has complete and clear information. Otherwise, even if the language is fine, it may be rejected because of a "read failure."

Step 1: Understand What Binance Requires for Address Proof

Proof of Address, or POA, is a document that verifies your real residential address. Binance requires it to include the following information. All of it is necessary:

  • Your full name: It must match the name on your ID exactly, character by character.

  • Detailed residential address: It must be exactly the same as the address you filled in on Binance, down to the house or apartment number.

  • Issue date: It must be within 3 months, or in some cases 6 months. This is the most common sticking point. If it is expired, it will be rejected immediately.

  • Issuing institution: It should be clear who issued the document, such as a bank logo or the name of the power company.

Step 2: Choose the Right Document and Take a Good Photo

The most common acceptable documents in China are listed below, from most recommended to least recommended:

  1. Paper bank or credit card statement (most recommended): Print the last three months of transactions at a bank counter. It must include your full name and address and be stamped with the bank seal.

  2. Utility bill: A bill from the State Grid, water bureau, or gas company issued within 3 months that shows your name and address.

  3. Official government letter: A letter sent by an institution such as the tax bureau or a court.

  4. Others: Fixed broadband bills and home insurance policies are also acceptable.

When taking the photo, pay attention to three things: capture all four corners of the document, do not only photograph the middle. Use bright light but avoid glare, so shadows do not cover the text. Keep the image clear, and do not let your hand shake and make it blurry.

Step 3: The 4 Most Common Reasons for Rejection

  • Expired document: The issue date is more than 3 months old. Download a PDF from online banking or print the latest statement at a bank counter.

  • Name or address looks almost right but is not exact: For example, the Chinese name has an extra space, or "Room 101" is written as "101." Every single character must be correct.

  • Incomplete document: Only part of the document was photographed, and key information was cut off.

  • Poor photo quality: Blurry, reflective, or shadowed text.

Notes About Translation

Binance's OCR system can directly recognize Chinese and 22 other languages. For non-English PDFs, it is recommended to check the option to "embed all fonts" to avoid missing fonts triggering manual review.

If the system asks for a translated version, a safe and compliant approach is to have a notary office issue a line-by-line translation with a translation stamp. Do not use machine-translated screenshots. But this is usually a special requirement. In 99% of cases, Chinese users can pass by uploading the original document directly.

How to check after submitting: After uploading, the status on the Identity Verification page in the Binance app will change from "Under Review" to "Verified" or "Approved." If there is no update after more than 2 business days, check the progress in the customer service chat.
