When you are about to withdraw, you may see both a "withdrawal fee" and a "gas fee" listed on the page. You might wonder: do I have to pay twice?

Here is the short answer: the two charges you see are essentially the same money. They are actually the same thing, just named or displayed differently depending on the app version or network. OKX's official explanation clearly states: "A withdrawal fee is charged as a reward paid to network miners (gas fee), not to the platform."

Why does it sometimes show "withdrawal fee" and sometimes "gas fee"?

This mainly depends on which version of the OKX app you are using:

  • Latest app version (Android 6.151 and above / corresponding iOS version): The page usually directly shows "withdrawal fee" or the specific deducted amount. The system will first deduct this fee from your account balance, without touching the amount you are withdrawing.

  • Older app version (6.150 and below) or some web versions: You are more likely to see the term "gas fee" because this fee is deducted directly from your withdrawal amount. For example, if you want to withdraw 100 coins and the gas fee is 1 coin, you will receive 99 coins.

So no matter what it is called, you should know that it is a "service fee" paid to miners (or validators), paid to the blockchain network, not a platform intermediary fee.

How do you know how much this fee is?

The number shown on the withdrawal page is the final amount. It is dynamically calculated based on real-time network conditions and is a fixed total price. You do not need to pay any additional fees.

How to tell which situation you are in?

What you seeWhat it meansWhat you should do
Page shows "withdrawal fee"This is the display method of the latest app version. The fee is deducted separately from your account balance.Just make sure your account balance is enough to cover this fee.
Page shows "gas fee"This is a more direct term. The fee is usually deducted from the withdrawal amount.Calculate the "net amount received" after subtracting the gas fee from the withdrawal amount to see if it is what you want.
Page shows both "withdrawal fee" and "gas fee"You may be seeing the breakdown of the "gas fee", or a fixed service fee charged by the platform for specific coins.Read the withdrawal page instructions carefully. Usually only one total amount is deducted. If unsure, take a screenshot and contact customer support for clarification.

Risk reminder: If you enter the wrong withdrawal address or select the wrong network, your assets will most likely be unrecoverable. This has nothing to do with gas fees, but it is more troublesome than paying extra money. So confirming the address and network is more important than worrying about the fee itself.
