Step 1: Switch to Spot Mode and Clear Positions
Before changing your residence, the account must be in spot mode, and there must be no ongoing pending orders or earn projects. Path: OKX App → bottom [Trade] → three dots upper right [More] → [Trade Settings] → [Account Mode] → select [Spot Mode]. If there are unexecuted orders or active financial projects, cancel them or wait until they are completed. Confirm the account mode is switched to spot, and there are no ongoing orders or financial projects.
Step 2: Access the Modification Entry and Submit Application
Find the country modification entry in your profile. Path: OKX App → upper left profile picture → [Profile] → [Country/Region]. Click and follow the prompts to select "I have moved to another country", then choose the new country/region, and click confirm to submit. The system will receive your change request and enter the re-authentication guide page.
Risk Notice
You can only change your country of residence up to 3 times in your lifetime; exceeding this number will prevent further changes. If your nationality and original residence are both China, the system does not allow changing the residence country or any other information. Additionally, after the change, your account fee tier will be reset, and trading history and other data may be migrated to different data centers. It is recommended to download necessary account statements before making the change.
Step 3: Complete Identity Re-authentication
After submitting the residence change, the system will require you to complete identity re-verification; otherwise, some functions (such as trading, deposits, and withdrawals) will be restricted. Follow the on-screen guide to complete the following steps:
- Confirm nationality and residence information: Choose the nationality and new residence that match your current identity.
- Upload ID documents: Provide a photo of a valid, unexpired government-issued ID document from your new residence.
- Face verification: Complete a real-time selfie verification.
- Submit proof of address (if required by the system): Provide an official document issued within the last 3 months that contains your full name and complete new address (such as a utility bill, bank statement, etc.). After identity verification passes, your account's country of residence will be officially updated to the new country.
Common Reasons for Failure
The most common reason is that the proof of address submitted does not meet requirements—for example, the document is older than 3 months, the name or address does not match the information provided, the photo is blurry or a screenshot, etc. These will be rejected. Also, if the new country of residence is in the list of unsupported countries/regions for OKX, the system will reject it.

Next Steps
If you have completed the above steps but features have not been restored, it is recommended to check the Verification Center or site messages to confirm if additional documents are required. According to OKX's official statement, this identity re-verification is a mandatory legal requirement. If not completed on time, trading, deposit and withdrawal functions will be temporarily restricted, but your funds are always safe. Once verification is done, features will automatically restore. If the account is logged out for about 5 minutes during the update process, that's normal. Wait for the notification email and then log back in.
