The main way to self-verify OKX's reserve assets is through the official website's Proof of Reserves (PoR) transparency page. OKX launched the PoR feature in 2022 and has updated it monthly ever since, using Merkle tree combined with zk-STARK zero-knowledge proof technology for verification.

A leading global cryptocurrency platform, suitable for both beginners and experienced traders.

Before starting, be clear on what you want to check: whether it's the platform's total reserve ratio, or whether your own account assets are truly included in the total reserves.
Step 1: Visit the Official PoR Transparency Page to Check the Overall Reserve Ratio
Get OKX's latest PoR report and confirm the total reserve ratios for major coins like BTC, ETH, and USDT. Open the OKX website in your browser, scroll to the bottom, click the "Transparency" link, and on the page choose "Proof of Reserves (PoR)" to enter the report list. Click the most recent report, and look at the "reserve ratio" for each asset. If all ratios are 100% or higher, it means the platform's on-chain assets as disclosed are enough to cover total user liabilities. Completion standard: confirm that the reserve ratios for the main assets (BTC, ETH, USDT, USDC) are all ≥ 100%.
Risk note: Don't just look at the reserve ratio numbers. A PoR report is based on a snapshot at a specific time, does not represent the platform's real-time asset status, and cannot cover off-chain debts or hidden liabilities. PoR is a transparency tool, not a guarantee of future solvency.
Step 2: Use the Merkle Tree Tool to Self-Verify Your Account Balance
This is the most important step—you need to not only look at the total assets the platform claims, but also confirm whether your own account balance was included in the current PoR snapshot.
Independently verify that your account assets at the time of the snapshot are recorded in the PoR's Merkle tree. On the PoR report page, find and click the "Verify my balance" button to enter the interactive verification interface. Follow the page instructions to enter the last four digits of your registered email or phone number (an anonymous identifier). The system will automatically match the path of your assets in the Merkle tree (leaf node hash) and display the included balance information. Completion standard: the verification interface returns a record that matches your account assets, and the path hash matches the Merkle root published in the current report.
Step 3: Cross-Check OKX's Public On-Chain Reserve Addresses Against Real-Time Balances
Cross-verify the on-chain wallet assets published by OKX against the actual balances you see on a blockchain explorer. On the PoR report page, expand the "Reserve wallet addresses" panel for each coin, and copy any address. Paste it into the corresponding blockchain explorer (e.g., Blockchain.com for BTC, Etherscan for ETH), and check the latest transactions and balance of that address. Compare the balance shown in the report with the real-time data from the explorer. Completion standard: the balance shown on the blockchain explorer is not lower than the corresponding address balance published in the report.
Common Verification Failure Reasons
The easiest pitfall is searching "OKX PoR" directly in your browser and landing on an unofficial page, or downloading an outdated verification tool. Always enter through the "Transparency" link at the bottom of the OKX official website. The verification files and tool versions you download must match the current report. OKX's verification file size dropped from 2.55GB to 598KB; if the downloaded file size is completely off, you may be on the wrong page.

Follow-up Actions
After completing the three steps above, it's recommended to check the "Third-party auditor statement" at the bottom of the report page, and confirm that the auditor is a recognized firm with a digital signature. You can take a screenshot of the verification result page and save it as your own asset proof record. If a balance mismatch appears during verification, first check whether the identity identifier you entered corresponds to the snapshot time of the current report. If questions remain, submit a ticket through the official customer service channel.
