Yes. OKX officially entered the Australian market in May 2024, holding an AFS licence (AFSL 379035) issued by ASIC and registered with AUSTRAC as a digital currency exchange. This means Australian users can access localised services, including direct Australian dollar (AUD) deposits and withdrawals. The platform supports over 500 trading pairs. No VPN or workaround is required – simply visit okx.com.

Two Key Operating Entities

OKX provides services in Australia through two locally registered companies:

Company EntityScope of ServicesEligible Users
OKX Australia Pty Ltd (AUSTRAC registered)Spot trading, OTC tradingAll Australian users
OKX Australia Financial Pty Ltd (AFSL 379035, ASIC regulated)Derivatives trading (futures, options, perpetual swaps)Verified wholesale clients only

Retail users can only use the spot trading services provided by OKX Australia Pty Ltd. Derivatives trading requires meeting the wholesale client criteria (typically a certain asset threshold, as defined by the ASIC Corporations Act). Ordinary retail investors cannot open a derivatives account.

When is this step complete: The verification code is accepted and you are taken to the password setup page.

What to do: Submit proof of identity. Under AUSTRAC anti-money laundering regulations, all Australian users must complete KYC before they can deposit, trade, or withdraw.

How to do it:

  • After logging in, go to the "Identity Verification" page (the system will guide you automatically).
  • Option A – Verify with an Australian driver's licence:

  • Spelling of the name does not match the ID exactly.
  • The ID has expired.

Risk warning: Registering with someone else's identity or using forged documents will result in a permanent account freeze. OKX is regulated by ASIC, and serious breaches may be reported to the regulator.

What to do: Add an extra layer of security to your account.

How to do it:

  • Go to "Account Settings" → "Security Center".
