The core difference between Flexible Earn and Auto-Invest is that the former uses idle funds to earn interest, while the latter automatically buys assets on a fixed schedule. Which one you choose depends on what you plan to do with the money — earn interest on your crypto or accumulate coins over the long term.

Step 1: Understand the Liquidity Limits of Flexible Earn
OKX Simple Earn flexible products support redemption at any time, and the funds are returned to your account instantly. The official rule is: once you redeem, your digital assets arrive in your account immediately. This is indeed much more flexible than fixed-term products.
But "anytime" does not mean "unlimited", and this is where most people fall into the trap.
What to do:
Log in to the OKX App, go to [Assets] → [Earn], and find your flexible product.
Click [Redeem], enter the amount, confirm, and the funds will arrive in real time.
Two restrictions you need to know:
If the lending pool for a certain coin is fully lent out, redemption for that coin may be restricted. Measures include temporary limits or suspension of redemptions, reviewed every hour.
OKX reserves the right to delay or restrict redemptions in cases of insufficient market liquidity or extreme conditions, processing on a "first in, first out" basis.
Completion standard: You confirm that the coin currently has no redemption limit triggered, and you can complete a redemption normally.
Common reasons for failure: Some people think of Flexible Earn as "cash available anytime", but during extreme market conditions or when the coin has very high lending demand, redemptions may be temporarily restricted. If you need the money to cover margin calls or emergencies, you shouldn't put it all in Flexible Earn — at least keep part of it in your spot wallet.
Step 2: Understand the Nature of Auto-Invest — Not Earning Interest, but Automated Buying
Auto-Invest lets you use a fixed amount to buy a chosen coin on a regular schedule. It is not an "interest-earning account". You deposit fiat or USDT and get back assets like BTC, ETH, whose prices fluctuate with the market.
What to do:
Go to [Assets] → [Finance] → [Auto-Invest] to view your current investment plans.
If you want to get your crypto back, the path is: pause the Auto-Invest plan → go to the spot market to sell the coins you hold, instead of clicking "redeem".
Unlike Flexible Earn: Coins bought through Auto-Invest go directly to your spot wallet. They do not earn interest automatically, nor are they sold automatically. The value of the coins you hold rises and falls with the market price.
Completion standard: You confirm whether your Auto-Invest plan is still running, and check the types and amounts of coins you currently hold.
Risk reminder: Coins bought through Auto-Invest are no different from those you manually buy on the spot market — they make money in a bull market and lose money in a bear market. Auto-Invest simply helps you "force savings" and "average out costs". It provides no protection against price drops.
Step 3: Choose Based on How You Plan to Use the Funds
| Comparison Dimension | Flexible Earn (Simple Earn Flexible) | Auto-Invest |
|---|---|---|
| Core Purpose | Earn interest on idle assets | Accumulate coins through long-term recurring buys |
| Redemption Method | Click "Redeem", instant arrival | Pause plan + manually sell |
| Redemption Speed | Instant in principle, but subject to liquidity restrictions | Selling depends on market liquidity |
| Principal Form | Remains in original coin, quantity doesn't decrease | Becomes the target coin, price fluctuates with market |
| Suitable For | Short-term idle funds, unsure when you'll need them | Coins you believe in long-term, don't mind short-term volatility |

How to Verify Your Operation
If you're not sure which one you're using, check the [Assets] page:
If the coin balance shows under "Earn" or "Finance Account" → It's Flexible Earn, click redeem to move back to spot wallet.
If the coin already appears in "Spot Wallet" and you have an active Auto-Invest plan → Those are assets bought through Auto-Invest, you need to manually sell them to cash out.
Next steps: If you have money you might need within 1-2 months, Flexible Earn is more suitable. If you're sure you won't touch it for over half a year and want to hold a coin long-term, Auto-Invest can be your entry method. But it's recommended not to lock all your money in Earn or Auto-Invest — keep at least part in your spot wallet to handle emergencies.
