OKX Wallet does not have a direct "Create DAO" button. Its role is as a connector: you use OKX Wallet to access DAO creation platforms that are already deployed (such as SLP Governance / Realms on Solana), complete the creation there, and then use OKX Wallet to manage members, voting, and funds.

Which platform to connect with OKX Wallet
For DAOs in the Solana ecosystem, the mainstream tool is SLP Governance (Realms). OKX Web3 Wallet is already integrated with this platform. You can access Realms through the DApp browser in the OKX Wallet extension or mobile app, and then choose "Create DAO".
If your DAO is not on Solana, OKX Wallet also supports DAO tools on other chains, but which one you can connect to depends on whether that tool is deployed on the chain you selected. OKX Wallet itself supports 85+ public chains, which is broad enough.
Three things you need to decide when creating
When creating a DAO on Realms, the core is configuring three sets of parameters. They directly determine "who can vote" and "how money is spent" later.
1. Membership model
You need to choose how members gain voting power. There are three common options:
Governance token model: Holding tokens gives you voting rights, 1 token = 1 vote. This is the most flexible and easiest to launch, but the risk is that "whales" can buy votes and take control.
NFT model: Holding a specific NFT is required to vote, usually used for communities with fixed membership.
Multisig / committee model: A few trusted addresses jointly sign decisions. Decisions are fast, but decentralization is sacrificed.
2. Voting parameters
These need to be set when creating the DAO. Changing them later requires a governance proposal:
Quorum: The minimum participation rate required for a vote to pass. Set it too low, and a few people can represent everyone; set it too high, and it may never be reached. Hedera's documentation suggests "starting with a lower quorum and adjusting later based on community needs".
Voting duration: How long a round of voting lasts.
Voting delay: The waiting time between the end of voting and the execution of the proposal. This window gives the community time to review the proposal content and prevents malicious proposals from being executed instantly.
3. Treasury
The DAO's fund pool is a smart contract address. When creating it, you usually need to deposit the first funds to activate it. Key reminder: Do not deposit a large amount of governance tokens into the treasury, because the treasury address usually has no voting rights. If you lock most of your tokens into the treasury, the community may be unable to reach quorum to pass any proposal.
The actual process of voting and treasury execution
Proposal: A member initiates a proposal on the platform, describing the action to be executed (for example, "transfer 1000 USDC from the treasury to address X"). The proposal needs to reach a "proposal threshold" (usually a certain number of tokens) to enter the voting stage.
Voting: Members sign their votes using OKX Wallet. Voting records are stored on-chain, and you can verify whether your vote was recorded by checking the transaction hash on a block explorer. OKX Wallet supports hardware wallets (such as Ledger). For DAOs controlling large funds, signing votes with a hardware wallet can prevent private keys from being stolen by malware.
Execution: After the vote passes and the delay period ends, anyone (usually the proposer or an automated tool) can trigger execution. The treasury contract will transfer funds or call the target contract according to the proposal content.
Risks you really need to watch out for
Governance attacks are real. A 2026 security review report on the OKX governance system pointed out that flash loan-driven governance attacks are a high-risk vector: attackers borrow a large number of governance tokens through flash loans, meet quorum and pass a malicious proposal in the same transaction, and then repay the loan. If the delay period is set too short (for example, 1 hour), the community has no time to react. Even if your DAO is small, you should set a reasonable delay period.
"One token, one vote" does not equal fairness. In a 2021 PancakeSwap vote, a whale holding 94,500 votes unilaterally vetoed a proposal supported by the majority, and the community ultimately had to "beg" the whale to give up the opposing vote for the proposal to pass. If your DAO involves significant funds, you need to consider whether token distribution is too concentrated, or introduce more complex voting mechanisms (such as quadratic voting).
A legal entity is not optional; it is something you need to actively consider. The legal status of DAOs varies greatly across jurisdictions. If not registered as a legal entity (such as an LLC in Wyoming or Delaware), members may bear personal liability for the DAO's debts, and the DAO's profits may be taxed as personal income of members. For DAOs that only handle digital assets and do not sign real-world contracts, remaining "purely on-chain" is a choice; but if you want to hold real assets or sign contracts, the lack of a legal entity will create substantial obstacles.
