The Funding Wallet and Spot Wallet are two different "pockets" inside Binance. The Funding Wallet is mainly used to hold deposits and money received from C2C and P2P. It cannot be used directly for trading. To place buy or sell orders in the spot market, you must first move the money from this pocket to the other pocket. This process is called a "transfer".

Quick answer: transfer in three steps

Path: Assets → Transfer → select "Funding Wallet" to "Spot Wallet" → enter the amount → confirm

You do not need to withdraw. This is an internal platform operation. There is no on-chain fee, and it usually arrives almost instantly.

Step 1: Find the transfer entry

[What to do] Locate the asset transfer entry.

[How to do it]

  • App: Open the Binance App, tap the "Assets" or "Wallets" icon at the far right of the bottom navigation bar → on the "Overview" tab, find the "Transfer" button.

  • Web: Log in to the Binance website, hover over "Wallet" in the top right corner → click "Spot Wallet" or "Funding Wallet" → find the "Transfer" option on the page.

[Done when] The page jumps to a screen where you can choose "From which wallet" and "To which wallet".

Step 2: Fill in the source and target wallets

[What to do] Set "Funding Wallet" as the sender and "Spot Wallet" as the receiver.

[How to do it]

  1. In the "From" field, select "Funding Wallet".

  2. In the "To" field, select "Spot Wallet".

  3. Choose the coin you want to transfer, such as USDT, and enter the amount.

  4. Check the information and click "Confirm Transfer".

[Done when] The page says "Transfer successful" and shows the coin and amount transferred.

Step 3: Check that the funds arrived

[What to do] Confirm that the asset appears in the Spot Wallet.

[How to do it] Go back to the "Assets" page and open the "Spot Wallet" tab. Check whether the balance has updated.

[Done when] You can see the transferred coin and amount in the Spot Wallet balance. If it is not shown, pull down to refresh the page or reopen the "Assets" page.

Common reasons for failure

Reason 1: The transfer direction is reversed. You selected "Spot to Funding" instead of "Funding to Spot". If reversed, you still cannot use the money for trading. Just repeat the operation with the correct direction.

Reason 2: Wrong wallet type selected, or cannot find Funding Wallet. If you use an older version of the App, the entry may be called "Fiat and Spot" or "Wallet Account" instead of "Funding Wallet". The core idea is the same: move money from a non-trading wallet to a trading wallet.

Reason 3: Minimum transfer amount limit. Some coins have a minimum transfer amount. If the amount is too small, the system will show "below the minimum limit". Adjust the amount according to the prompt.

Risk reminder: The transfer is an internal platform operation. It is completely free and has no on-chain gas fee. However, if you mistakenly transfer assets from the Spot Wallet to the Margin Wallet, and the Margin Wallet has borrowed funds, the money may be automatically used to repay the loan instead of staying in the wallet for trading. Before transferring, make sure the target wallet is the "Spot Wallet".

How to verify after the operation

Go to the spot market, pick any trading pair, and try to place an order by entering an amount. If your available balance includes the coin you just transferred, it worked.
