You just finished identity verification, opened the "Buy Crypto" page, picked an amount, and were about to pay. Then you paused: should you deposit money into your account first, or can you buy directly?

The direct answer is: you do not need to deposit first. You can use the "Buy Crypto" feature to buy cryptocurrency with fiat money right away.

This is a shortcut Binance designed for beginners. It and "deposit first, then trade" are two different paths. Which one to choose depends on your funds and habits.

Key Differences Between the Two Paths

PathBest forProcessFund Flow
Buy Crypto (Quick/P2P)Beginners, small amounts, want coins immediatelyChoose payment method → pay → coins go directly to spot walletFiat goes from your bank card/Alipay directly to the seller
Deposit First, Then TradeAlready hold crypto, large amounts, want to set your own priceBuy stablecoins with fiat → funds arrive in account → use trading pair to buy target coinFiat is converted by the platform into stablecoins or fiat balance

The key difference: "Buy Crypto" is one step. "Deposit first" means you first convert money into a form the platform can use (usually stablecoins like USDT), then enter the market to trade.

Case A: Use the "Buy Crypto" Path (Recommended for Beginners)

What you do: directly use fiat money (USD, EUR, etc.) to buy the cryptocurrency you want.

How to do it:

  1. Open the Binance app home page and tap "Buy Crypto".

  2. In "Quick Buy" or "P2P Trading", choose the coin you want (such as BTC or USDT) and the payment method (bank card, Alipay, WeChat, etc.).

  3. Enter the amount and complete payment as instructed (scan or transfer).

  4. In P2P mode, after paying, be sure to click "I have paid" on the order page and wait for the seller to confirm.

How to know it worked: the coin you bought appears in your "Spot Wallet" balance. It usually arrives within a few minutes after payment.

Case B: Use the "Deposit First, Then Trade" Path (Best if You Already Have USDT or Trade Large Amounts)

What you do: first convert fiat money into stablecoins (such as USDT) and put them in your account, then use those funds to buy other coins on the trading market.

How to do it:

  1. Use fiat money to buy USDT (via Quick Buy or P2P), or transfer USDT in from an external wallet.

  2. Go to the "Trade" section and choose a trading pair, such as BTC/USDT.

  3. Use USDT in your account to place a limit order or market order to buy BTC.

How to know it worked: your BTC appears in the spot wallet, and you can see the trade in your transaction history.

Common Reasons for Failure

Reason 1: You rushed to buy before verification was complete. Accounts that have not completed identity verification cannot use fiat money to buy cryptocurrency. Make sure your verification status is "Verified".

Reason 2: After paying in P2P, you forgot to click "I have paid". The order can time out and be cancelled automatically. Your money will be refunded, but you will waste time.

Reason 3: You used the wrong address or tag for a cross-chain deposit. If you transfer cryptocurrency from an external wallet, different coins use addresses on different chains. Choosing the wrong chain can cause loss of assets.

Risk reminder: In P2P trading, payment must be completed through the platform order chat. Any request for "private transfer" is a scam. Check a merchant's completion rate and positive reviews, and prefer merchants with a "blue shield" badge. Also, holding BNB can reduce fees, so long-term traders may want to keep some BNB in the account.

How to Verify the Operation

Whichever path you take, finally go to "Spot Wallet" and check the balance and transaction history. If the coins arrived, the operation was successful. If you paid but have not received coins after more than 30 minutes, first check the order status, then go to the order details page and tap "Appeal" to contact support.
