Expired ID? The first step is not to open the app and tap randomly. Instead, prepare two things first: a new original ID (front and back) + an environment for live face verification. If either is missing, you cannot finish the process. Also, your account will be restricted as soon as you submit.

Your ID document is the first hurdle and the key to passing. If you are on Binance US (Binance.US), there is an extra requirement: the ID you submit must be valid for at least 6 months before it expires. This applies to passports and national ID cards.
Step 1: Find the update entry
Binance usually reminds you by email or in-app notice before your ID expires. If you did not receive a notice, or you want to update on your own:

[How to do it]:
App: Log in, tap the "Profile" icon in the top left or bottom of the home page → tap your avatar area to enter "Account information" → tap "Verification center" or "Identity verification" → find and tap "Update identity" or "re-verification".
Web: Log in, click "Profile" in the top right → "Identity verification" → find the "Update identity information" entry.
Special channel: If you cannot find the entry, go to the official support page and type "How to update KYC". The support reply usually includes a link to reset KYC. Click it and follow the same process.
[Done when]: You have entered the upload page and can clearly see the "Upload new ID" and "Face verification" buttons or prompts.
Step 2: Submit a new ID and complete face verification
After entering the update process, the system will ask you to choose a reason (for example, "ID has expired"). Then you will reach the key submission step.
[What to do]: Upload clear photos of the front and back of your new ID, and complete the "liveness check" (face verification).
[How to do it]:
Upload new ID photos as required. Using the mobile app to take photos usually works better because it can use the camera directly. The photo must show all four corners of the ID. The information must be clear, not blocked, and not reflective.
Complete the liveness check. Follow the on-screen instructions. In good lighting, face the camera straight and complete actions like nodding, blinking, or opening your mouth. Do not wear a hat or sunglasses, and do not use filters. Make sure your whole face is clearly visible.
[Done when]: The page shows "Submitted successfully" or "Processing". That means you have sent all materials.
Common reasons for failure
The process is interrupted: During face verification, do not exit halfway or switch apps. Otherwise, your daily verification attempts (usually 5 or 10 times) may be wasted. After exceeding the limit, you must wait 24 hours to try again.
ID photo is not good enough: Blurry, reflective, cut-off corners, or only one side (when both front and back are required) will be rejected by the system.
Risk reminder
Once you confirm the "Update identity information" process, your account will immediately enter withdrawal-only mode. During this time, you cannot spot trade, buy or sell, or deposit until the new verification is approved. So, never update when the market is moving sharply or when you urgently need to trade. It is better to place your orders first, or make sure you have no trading plans for the next one or two days.

How to check after submitting
After you submit, just wait. The review result will be sent to your registered email. Check your email, including the spam folder, half a day or a day after submitting. If you have not received an approval email within a week and your account is still restricted, contact official support to check the progress.
