Do not rush to ask "why is my ID already used?" First ask yourself: did you register on Binance with this ID before, but just forgot?

Most people see this message not because someone stole their identity. They registered an account years ago, then changed phone number or forgot email. Now when they try to register on a new device, the system blocks them. If the ID is yours, Binance will not let you use the same ID to open a second account, but it will help you recover the old account.
Below are two paths. Case A helps you recover an old account. Case B handles the extreme situation where your ID may have been misused.
Case A: You did register before, but forgot your account information
This is the most common case when Binance says "ID is already used." Binance has a dedicated appeal channel for "forgot account" situations.
[What to do]: Use the official appeal process. Verify your identity with your ID, then recover the original account.
[How to do it]:
Open the Binance app or website. On the login page, find "Forgot account?" or go to the identity verification page. The system will guide you into the "forgot account appeal" process.
Choose your nationality (match the information on your ID).
Upload your ID photo. Make it clear, show all four corners, avoid glare and cropping.
Record a video statement: Hold your ID and face the camera. Clearly read the following statement (fill in today's date): "Today is [DD-MM-YYYY]. I forgot my Binance account for personal reasons. Please help provide my account information." If you are not comfortable with English, you can speak in Chinese. But show a piece of paper with the English statement written on it in front of the camera (together with your ID).
(Optional but recommended) If you deposited into Binance in the past 3 months, you can record another video showing your withdrawal record from a third-party platform (not Binance) to help speed up the review.
[Done when]: After submission, Binance usually reviews within 1 business day. When approved, you will be notified and receive the login information for your original account.
If you only want to reset 2FA instead of recovering your account, the process is similar, but the statement is different: "Today is x year x month x day. I apply to reset the Google/SMS/email/passkey security verification (2FA) for my account."
Case B: You are sure you never registered a Binance account
This situation needs attention. Your ID information may have been used by someone else.
[What to do]: Contact Binance official customer service immediately. Request to freeze the account that misused your ID.
[How to do it]:
Do not seek help on any unofficial channel. Customer service will create an appeal link for you. Handle it only inside the platform. Do not private message anyone to "help solve" the issue.
Follow customer service guidance and submit proof: front and back of your ID, face verification, and supporting material that shows this account is not yours (for example, you never received Binance registration emails).
After review is approved, the misused account will be frozen. Then you can register again with your own ID.
[Done when]: You receive confirmation from customer service that "the misused account has been frozen, and you can re-verify your identity."
⚠️ Risk reminder
Never try to open multiple Binance accounts with the same ID. Binance's user agreement clearly says one person can only have one KYC-verified account. If you use the same ID to register a second account, the system will block it at the KYC stage. Your existing account may also be flagged or frozen. If you have a legitimate need for multiple accounts, Binance has a "sub-account" feature for that.

How to check after you finish
After submitting the appeal, watch the email and phone number you left in the appeal. Binance will notify you through these two channels. If you do not receive a reply within 1 business day, you can check progress at the official Help Center under "identity verification appeal rejected" entry. After you get your old account back, log in immediately, check your assets, and look for any unusual transaction records.
