Binance Deposit Memo Missing? Recovery Entry and Materials

If you forgot or entered the wrong Memo, your funds are not lost. They sit in Binance's general deposit address, but the system does not know which account to credit. Binance has an official self-service recovery channel. Just prepare the materials below and follow the steps.

Step 1: Check if your transaction qualifies for recovery

Not all cases of missing Memo can be recovered. First, check the following three points to see if your transaction is within Binance's supported recovery scope:

  1. On-chain status: It must show "Success" or "Completed". If it is still Pending or failed, wait until it is confirmed.

  2. Deposit target: You are depositing into your own Binance account. If you are depositing for someone else, or you are the sender, Binance will not process it.

  3. Supported coin: The coin must be listed on Binance to use this channel. If the coin is not in the list, you need to use another "deposit not credited" appeal channel.

Make sure all three points above are met and the transaction status shows Success. Do not submit an application before the on-chain transaction is confirmed, because the system cannot read the transaction and will reject it directly.

Step 2: Prepare these four materials (all required)

The following materials must be filled in when you submit the application. Preparing them in advance can save a lot of time:

MaterialDescriptionWhere to find it
Transaction Hash (TxID/TxHash)The unique identifier of each on-chain transaction, a string of letters and numbersIn the "withdrawal history" or "transaction details" of the exchange or wallet that sent the transfer
Deposit coinFor example XRP, XLM, BNBWhatever coin you deposited
Deposit amountAccurate to decimal places, remove thousands separators (commas)Check the withdrawal record. Keep up to 8 decimal places as required by the page
Sender address (source address)The address the funds were sent fromLook up the TxID in a blockchain explorer and you will see the "From" field

Make sure the above four pieces of information are correct. Note that if the wrong Tag you entered happens to belong to another user, the funds may have already been credited to someone else's account. In that case Binance cannot force the funds back, and it is much harder to handle than a missing Memo.

Step 3: Enter the self-service recovery channel and submit the form

Submit the recovery application through the official appeal channel. The web steps are as follows:

  1. Log in to your Binance account and visit the "Forgot/Wrong Tag/Memo Recovery Application" link. You can find the entry by searching "Forgot or wrong Tag/Memo recovery application" in the Binance Help Center.

  2. The page will jump to the application form. Fill in the four pieces of information you prepared one by one.

  3. If the system can automatically identify the coin and amount from the TxID, just verify it. If not, enter them manually.

  4. Click [Submit], confirm the transaction details are correct, then click [Confirm].

When the page shows "Submitted successfully" and a query entry for application records appears, the web submission is complete. If you are using the Binance App, follow this path: [Assets] → [Deposit] → History icon in the top right → Find the transaction → "Deposit not credited appeal" entry at the bottom of the page, then follow the instructions.

Step 4: Wait for processing and watch for requests for more materials

After successful submission, you can check progress in [Application Records]. If customer service needs you to provide additional materials, such as a video proving the transaction is real, they will notify you by email or in-app message.

The official processing time is usually 3-7 business days. When recovery succeeds, Binance will charge a handling fee, usually the network fee for that coin. If the remaining amount after deducting the fee is less than the minimum withdrawal amount for that coin, Binance may not be able to assist. The recovered assets will be returned to the deposit source address, which is the address you initiated the transfer from. If the source is another exchange, you need to contact that exchange after Binance refunds to arrange re-crediting.

How to verify completion

In [Application Records], the status shows "Completed" or "Refunded". At the same time, in [Assets] → Funding Account, you receive the coin. If it was returned to the source address, it goes back to the platform you initiated the transfer from.

FAQ

Q: Which is easier to recover, a wrong Tag or a missing one? A: A missing one is easier. When no Memo is filled in, the assets stay in the exchange's general address and are in an "unclaimed" state, so finding the owner is relatively simple. If the wrong Tag does not exist, the situation is similar. But if the wrong Tag belongs to another valid user, the funds enter someone else's account, which is more complicated to handle, and Binance cannot force the funds back.

Q: Which coins require a Memo/Tag? A: XRP, XLM, BNB (BEP2), ATOM, EOS, KAVA, BAND, XEM, etc. If the deposit page prompts that a Memo/Tag is required, then you must fill it in.

Q: How long does it take to get funds back after submitting the application? A: The official processing time is usually 3-7 business days, excluding holidays. If there is no update after that time, you can add a message to the ticket. But do not follow up too frequently. Customer service handles requests in order, and too many follow-ups may actually slow things down.
