If you receive a source of funds request, don't panic. This is not aimed at you personally. It is part of OKX's compliance process. In July 2025, the OKX CEO said only about 1% of users receive these requests. The other 99% are not affected at all. Most requests happen when the system flags a suspicious transaction, such as an indirect link between your deposits or withdrawals and marked addresses, or unusual device or network activity.

The purpose is to clarify facts and keep the platform from being misused. It is not to collect your privacy, and it is not part of a judicial investigation. Just provide truthful materials. Your assets and account security will not be affected.

Step 1: Find the submission entry

After receiving the notice, open the OKX App → [User Center] → [Identity Verification]. If your account status shows "More information needed" or "Under review," the page usually has a "Submit materials" or "Add information" button.

If there is no entry on the [Identity Verification] page, go to [Help Center] → [Customer Support] → find "Appeal" or "Ticket system." Explain your situation in a ticket, and the system will open an upload channel for you.

Completion standard: You see a file upload button on the page, or customer support gives you clear submission instructions.

Step 2: Prepare materials by source of funds type

OKX lists common source-of-funds types and required documents as follows:

Case A: Funds from salary income

  • What to prepare: Bank statements from the last 3 months (showing the word "salary" and company transfer records), or an employment certificate plus payslips
  • Completion standard: The document shows your name, employer name, and pay period. All four corners are complete and clear.

Case B: Funds from another exchange withdrawal (for example from Binance)

  • What to prepare: Export an account statement PDF from the source exchange for the last 3 months. It must show your real name. Also provide the on-chain transaction hash (TxID) for the withdrawal to OKX.
  • Completion standard: The PDF statement shows your name, and the TxID can be found on a block explorer.

Case C: Funds from DeFi mining or airdrops

  • What to prepare: Wallet screenshots (name the file or wallet with your own name), provide a private key signature to prove the address is yours, and include earnings records from the mining platform or airdrop project.
  • Completion standard: The screenshot shows your wallet address, transaction hash, and earnings amount.

Case D: Freelancer or no fixed job

  • What to prepare: Honestly fill in "no fixed employer," but you must explain your specific income source (such as freelance work, e-commerce, etc.), and provide matching income proof.
  • Completion standard: The income source makes sense, and the documents support it.

Case E: Funds from a loan

  • What to prepare: Loan contract or statements from the lending platform.
  • Completion standard: The document shows your name, amount, and lending institution.

Step 3: Golden rules for submitting materials

Follow these file requirements. Missing any one of them may cause rejection:

  • The name on the document must match your OKX account name.
  • Submit only PDF, JPG, or PNG files. Excel and Word are not accepted.
  • All four corners must be fully visible. Use at least 300 DPI. Do not crop or blur the file.
  • Bank statements must cover the last 3 months. Pack them into a PDF. Suggested file name: "OKX_LastFourDigitsOfAccount_FundExplanation_Date".

Risk warning: Fake materials and red lines have serious consequences

If your source of funds involves coin mixers or addresses linked to sanctioned entities, it will directly trigger risk control or even account removal. OKX also clearly states that if funds come from non-compliant channels such as predatory online lending, the platform does not support it and will remove the account if discovered. Do not fabricate materials. Your account and documents are under your real name, so faking them means cutting off your own path.

How to check after completing the process

After submitting materials, check the [Identity Verification] page. If the status changes to "Under review" or "Verified," your submission was successful. Review usually takes 2-6 hours, but in a few cases it may take longer. During this time, do not repeatedly rush customer support or submit multiple times, because that can slow down progress. If your submission is rejected, the page will show the reason. Simply submit again according to the instructions.
