Can I Modify My Information After Completing OKX KYC?
OKX locks your KYC information once it passes verification. The system does not allow you to directly edit fields such as your verified name or ID number on the page. If you really need to make a change, you must re-submit an application through the "Modify Verification" portal, and the update will only take effect after manual approval.
Prerequisites
Before applying for a modification, confirm these three things:
Your account is in good standing — it is not frozen or under risk control restrictions.
You have completed at least one round of KYC verification — unverified users cannot initiate a modification request; you must complete initial verification first.
The modification reason falls within the platform's supported scope — such as expired ID, name change, or data entry errors.
OKX limits the number of times identity information can be modified. Usually this is 1–2 times per year. Frequent modification attempts may trigger risk control reviews.
Step 1: Enter the "Modify Verification" Portal
What to do: Log in to the OKX app, go to the identity verification page, and find the "Modify Verification" button.
How to do it:
Open the OKX app, tap the [User Center] icon in the top-left corner of the home page → [Profile and Settings] → [Profile] → [Identity Verification].
On the identity verification page, tap the [Modify Verification] or [Re-verification] button.
The system will display a drop-down menu for you to select the reason for the change. Choose based on your actual situation:
ID expired: Your ID document has expired and needs updating
Name change: Your legal name has changed (supporting documents required)
Incorrect information: The name or ID number you entered was wrong
What counts as done: You have successfully entered the "Modify Verification" process and selected the corresponding reason.
Step 2: Prepare and Upload Documents According to the Modification Reason
What to do: Follow the system prompts to upload new ID photos and supporting documents.
How to do it:
Scenario A: ID information error or expired document update
Submit clear, high-resolution photos of the front and back of your new ID document.
Photo requirements: all four corners visible, no glare, no obstructions, text clearly legible. You must photograph the original physical document; screenshots, re-photographs of copies, or photocopies are not accepted.
Scenario B: Name change
Upload photos of the front and back of your new ID document. The name on the document must be your correct legal name.
At the same time, you must upload a scanned copy of the official name change certificate issued by the public security authorities (e.g., the personal page of your household registration booklet, or a household registration change certificate).
General requirements for all cases:
Before submitting, double-check the name and ID number you entered, making sure they match the new original document character by character, including spaces and punctuation.
If the system prompts for additional materials, you may need to take a photo holding the new ID document (clearly showing your face and the document information).
What counts as done: All materials have been uploaded, and the page shows "Submission Successful" or "Under Review."
Step 3: Complete Facial Recognition and Submit for Review
What to do: After uploading your materials, the system will ask you to complete facial recognition (liveness detection) to confirm that you are the person performing the operation.
How to do it:
Remove any coverings such as face masks, hats, and dark glasses.
Operate in a well-lit indoor space, align your face within the frame, and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the actions.
Once the facial recognition is passed, the system will officially submit your modification application and place it in the manual review queue.
What counts as done: Facial recognition passed, and the page displays "Under Review."
Step 4: Wait for Manual Review and Track the Result
What to do: After submission, wait for the OKX compliance team to review. This usually takes 1–3 business days.
How to do it:
Do not submit duplicate applications during the review period, as this may cause processing confusion.
The review result will be pushed via in-app notification, your registered email, or the mobile number linked to your account.
If approved, your identity verification information will be updated to the latest details, and account functions will return to normal.
If the review fails, the notification will clearly state the reason for rejection (e.g., blurry materials, information inconsistency, exceeding the allowed number of modification attempts). Correct the issue based on the instructions and resubmit.
What counts as done: You have received an approval notification, and the identity verification page shows "Verified" with the updated information.
Common Rejection Reasons
Submitted materials are blurry or incomplete: The ID photo has glare, missing corners, or illegible text that the system cannot recognize.
The newly entered name/ID number does not match the original document: Even one wrong character or an extra space can cause rejection.
Screenshots, re-photographs, or photocopies were used: OKX requires photographs of the original document. Non-originals will be judged as invalid materials immediately.
Name change without an official supporting document: If you are changing your name but do not provide a public security authority change certificate, the review will not pass.
Exceeding the allowed number of modification attempts: OKX limits the number of times identity information can be changed (usually 1–2 times per year). Once exceeded, you cannot submit another request.
Risk Warnings
Do not modify information through unofficial channels: OKX has never authorized any third party to provide identity verification modification services. Anyone claiming to offer "internal channels" or "paid guaranteed approval" is running a scam. This may lead to account theft or permanent freezing.
Submitting fraudulent documents will result in a permanent ban: Forging ID documents or change certificates is a serious violation. If discovered, OKX reserves the right to permanently freeze the account and report to regulatory authorities.
Changing the legal identity owner is virtually impossible: An account verified under user A cannot be directly changed to user B's identity — this involves legal determination of account ownership.
Log in to the OKX app, go to the [Identity Verification] page. If you see a "Modify Verification" button, follow the steps to initiate an application — upload clear ID photos, choose the correct change reason, and complete facial recognition. After submission, watch for in-app notifications and emails; the review usually takes 1–3 business days. Once you receive an approval notification, confirm on the page that the displayed name and ID number have been corrected.
