What to Do If Your OKX C2C Buy Crypto Payment Times Out?
After a payment timeout, first check whether funds were transferred, then choose the corresponding solution. If funds were not transferred, the order will be automatically canceled and you can simply reorder. If funds were transferred but you didn't click 'I have paid', you need to appeal to recover the order.

Step 1: Confirm If the Money Has Been Transferred
This is the first step to determine how to proceed.
Open your bank app or Alipay/WeChat payment records, and check the transaction status:
Money not transferred: The transfer failed or was canceled → See Step 2
Money already transferred: The bank card / Alipay already deducted → Jump directly to Step 3
Completion standard: Confirm whether the money has been deducted from your payment account.
Step 2: Money Not Transferred – Order Canceled, Reorder
If the money hasn't been transferred, the order will be automatically canceled after the timeout. This does not affect your order completion rate; simply reorder directly.
Instructions:
Return to the OKX App [C2C Buy Crypto] page
Select a new merchant and complete the payment
After payment, be sure to click 'I have paid', or the order will time out again and be canceled
Suggestions before ordering:
If the previous transfer failed because your payment method was blocked by risk control, try a different payment method (e.g., switch from Alipay to WeChat, or use another bank card)
If the merchant's payment information was incorrect and prevented you from paying, choose a different merchant
Completion standard: Successfully place a new order, and the order status changes to 'Waiting for seller to release crypto'.
Step 3: Money Transferred but Didn't Click 'I Have Paid' – Appeal to Recover
The most dispute-prone situation is when money has been deducted but the order was canceled due to timeout. Funds will not be automatically returned after the order is canceled. You need to appeal to let the system confirm the payment, then reorder.
Operation path:
Go to [C2C Buy Crypto] - [Orders], find the canceled order
Click [Need Help?], select 'I have paid, but the order was canceled'
Upload a screenshot of the payment proof – it must include the payment amount, recipient account name, payment time, and payment status
After submitting, the system will send the proof to the seller for verification
After the seller confirms receipt, click the [Reorder] button
After reordering, wait for the seller to release the crypto
Note: This feature requires OKX App version 6.96.0 or above; upgrade if your app is too old.
If you can't find the 'Reorder' entry: Initiate an appeal directly on the order detail page, select 'I have paid, but the order was canceled' and upload the proof. Customer service will review it. Processing usually responds within 12 hours.
Completion standard: The appeal has been submitted, or the seller has confirmed and you have successfully reordered.
Step 4: Order Canceled More Than 72 Hours Ago – Contact Customer Service
If the order cancellation has exceeded 72 hours, the online appeal channel may be closed. You will need manual handling by customer service.
Instructions:
Enter OKX App [Help Center] - [Contact Customer Service]
Select 'Buy/Sell Crypto Issues', and transfer to a human agent
Provide: Order number, payment screenshot, transaction hash (if any)
Customer service will manually verify and handle it
Completion standard: Customer service has accepted the case, and you have obtained a ticket number or the resolution.
Special Case: Third-Party Payment Delays
If the third-party payment platform (bank card / WeChat / Alipay) prompts 'Will arrive after 24 hours' when paying:
If you haven't paid yet: It is recommended to cancel the order, switch payment methods or choose another merchant, and reorder to avoid the risk of delayed arrival
If you have already paid and chose to continue: You need to wait 24 hours for the funds to arrive before the seller releases the crypto. Maintain communication with the seller during this period.
Common Reasons for Timeout
Forgot to click 'I have paid' after payment: This is the most common reason an order times out and gets canceled. Money was transferred but the system didn't know.
Payment amount doesn't match the order amount: Overpaying or underpaying both prevent the order from completing normally.
Used a non-real-time payment method: Some bank transfers are not instant; the seller will only release crypto after receiving the funds.

Risk Warning
Do not actively cancel the order after payment: If you have already paid, canceling the order will not automatically return the funds. You will have to go through the appeal process.
Daily cancellation limit: You can cancel at most 3 orders per day. Exceeding this limit, your account will be unable to place further orders that day.
Do not write sensitive content in the transfer memo: Writing words like 'digital currency', 'USDT', 'OKX' etc. gives the seller the right to refuse the transaction or cancel with a refund.
Go to [C2C Buy Crypto] - [Orders], locate the corresponding order, and confirm whether funds have been transferred. If the money hasn't been sent, simply reorder. If the money has been sent but the order was canceled, click [Need Help?], submit your payment proof, select 'I have paid, but the order was canceled', wait for the seller to confirm, then reorder.
