If the seller doesn't release crypto after you've made payment, the first step is to click [Remind Seller] on the order page. If there's no response within 15 minutes, click [Appeal] — customer support will step in based on the payment proof you upload. The key is that you must click "I have completed the transfer" after payment, and your proof must be authentic and valid.

Step 1: Remind the Seller Through the Order Chat Window

If the seller doesn't release crypto in time after payment, first remind them using the built-in chat feature within the order.

How to do it:

  1. Open the OKX App and go to [C2C Buy Crypto] - [Orders]
  2. Find the order and tap to enter the details page
  3. Tap the chat icon in the top right corner and send a message reminding the seller to release the crypto
  4. You can also directly tap the [Remind Seller] button on the order page

When is this step complete: You have contacted the seller via the in-app chat feature, and they have not responded or have not released the crypto after more than 15 minutes.

Step 2: Confirm You Have Clicked "I Have Completed the Transfer"

This is an easily overlooked but crucial step. If you forget to click [I have completed the transfer] after payment, the system will not notify the seller, and the order will be automatically cancelled when it times out.

How to check: Go to the order details page and check the status — if it shows "Waiting for seller to release crypto," it means you've clicked it; if it still shows "Waiting for payment," it means you haven't clicked it yet and need to do so immediately.

When is this step complete: Confirm the order status shows "Waiting for seller to release crypto," not "Waiting for payment."

Step 3: File an Appeal

If you cannot reach the seller or the seller still hasn't released the crypto after 15 minutes, file an appeal immediately.

How to do it on the App:

  1. Go to [C2C Buy Crypto] - [Orders] and find the order
  2. Tap the order to enter the details page, then tap [Need Help?]
  3. Select [Seller not releasing crypto] or [Seller has not released digital assets]
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions and upload a screenshot of your payment proof or bank transaction record
  5. Tap [Submit Appeal] and wait for customer support to intervene

The more complete your proof, the faster the resolution — it's recommended to capture a page showing the payment amount, the recipient's account name, and the payment time.

When is this step complete: The appeal has been submitted, and the order details page shows "Under Appeal" status.

Step 4: Check Appeal Progress and Cooperate with Customer Support

After the appeal is submitted, customer support will make a judgment based on the proof provided by both parties according to the trading rules.

How to check progress:

  1. Go to [C2C Buy Crypto] - [Orders] and find the order under appeal
  2. Tap to enter the details page and view the appeal details and customer support replies
  3. If customer support requests additional materials, tap [Urge Progress / Add Proof] to upload

Processing time: Customer support typically responds to appeals within 12 hours. The exact resolution time depends on how quickly both parties respond.

When is this step complete: Customer support has intervened and the issue has been resolved.

Common Reasons for Failure and Risk Warnings

Common reasons for failure:

  • Paid without clicking "I have completed the transfer": The system won't notify the seller, and funds may not be automatically returned after the order times out and is cancelled
  • Payment proof is unclear or incomplete: If the proof is illegible or doesn't contain key information, customer support cannot verify it
  • Communicating outside the platform: Contacting the seller outside the App means customer support cannot access the chat records as arbitration evidence
  • Clicking "Cancel Order" after payment: Once the order is cancelled, funds cannot be automatically returned and the process becomes more complicated

Risk warnings:

  • Payment screenshots can be forged. Always rely on the actual bank account balance reflecting the received funds — do not release crypto based solely on a screenshot sent by the other party
  • C2C transactions must be completed entirely within the platform. The platform cannot arbitrate funds involved in private communications conducted outside the platform
