If you entered the wrong date of birth, you cannot simply edit it in your profile. OKX enforces strict consistency for identity verification. The system does not allow direct editing of verified fields. You must go through the complete "Modify Verification" process and resubmit your documents.
Step 1: Understand that you can only use the "re-verification" process
You cannot edit your date of birth directly like you would change a password or email. The only way is to go to the Identity Verification page, choose a reason for modification, and resubmit all required documents.
The platform rules are clear: once identity verification is completed, the information cannot be changed or revoked. If you need to correct it, you must go through the full re-verification process.
Completion standard: You understand that this is not just "changing a number." It is a complete identity re-verification process that requires you to upload your ID again and perform facial recognition.
Step 2: Find the entry point and choose the correct reason for the change
If the system does not automatically show a prompt, follow these steps to get there:
App: Tap the "All Functions" icon in the upper-left corner → "Profile and Settings" → "Profile" → "Identity Verification" → tap "Modify Verification."
Website: After logging in, click the profile icon in the top right → "Verification" or "Account and Security" → "Identity Verification" → click "Modify Verification."
Once there, the system will ask you to select a reason for the change. For an incorrect date of birth, choose the relevant option (such as "Wrong Information" or the "ID Expired" category). Be careful not to select "ID Expired" if your ID is still valid—this could lead to a different review standard.
Completion standard: You have entered the Modify Verification page and selected the correct reason for the change.
Step 3: Submit the correct identity document and complete verification
After choosing the reason, follow the system instructions:
Upload a new, valid identity document (front and back). Make sure the images are high-resolution, show all four corners, have no glare, and display clearly your name, date of birth, and expiration date.
Facial recognition: Complete the liveness check. Your face must be clearly visible—remove sunglasses, masks, and hats.
After submission, your application enters manual review. The process usually takes within 24 hours.
Risk note: If the new document's information is significantly different from what the system has on record (for example, the date of birth is inconsistent and cannot be reasonably explained), your application may be rejected. The system requires the date of birth to be clearly readable. If the submitted document is blurry or incomplete, it will be rejected immediately.
Step 4: What happens to your account after you submit
While your application is under review, keep the following in mind:
If you do not complete the update within the specified time, your account may be temporarily restricted (e.g., trading paused), but you can still withdraw your assets.
Once the review is approved, your account functions will be restored automatically. No further action is needed.
If rejected, check the notification in the message center for the reason, correct the issue, and resubmit.
Completion standard: You have submitted the application and confirmed that it is now in the review queue.
How to check the status after submission
After you submit, verify the status through two channels:
Check the message center: Look for a notification saying "Under Review" or "Approved / Rejected."
Go back to the Identity Verification page: See if the status has changed from "Pending" to "Verified."
Next step: If you have not received any feedback after 7 business days, contact OKX online support or the "OKX Assistant" with your ticket number to check the progress. Before you submit, it is recommended to double-check that the date of birth on your new ID matches the one you originally entered. If the number itself is correct and was just entered incorrectly, your chance of approval is higher.
