Step 1: First Confirm Where Your Account "Region" Actually Is
To find out which region you selected during registration, here is the entry point:
App: Tap the bottom [Menu] (three horizontal lines) → the top right [Avatar] or [Profile] → find [Country/Region of Residence]. This field will directly show your current residence selection.
Web: Log in to the official website, click your avatar in the top right corner → go to [Profile] or [Settings], scroll down, and you will see the [Country/Region of Residence] field.
Important distinction: The "Country/Region" you see in your profile is the residence you selected at registration, not your nationality. OKX treats "nationality" and "residence" separately — nationality is verified using your ID documents during KYC, while residence determines which products and services you can access.
Step 2: Can You Change It If the Region Is Wrong?
Yes, but there are strict limitations.
The official change entry is: App [Menu] → [Avatar/Profile] → [Country/Region of Residence]. Tap it and follow the instructions to complete the residence change.
But you need to know about two limitations first:
Limitation 1: Maximum Number of Changes
You can only change your residence a total of 3 times. After that, it cannot be changed again, so make sure you confirm the target region before making changes.
Limitation 2: Locked in Some Cases
If both your nationality and residence are China, the system does not allow changing your residence or any other information. Also, if you still have open orders or earn orders in your account, you cannot change it.
Risk reminder: Changing your residence is not as simple as changing an address. During the residence update, your account will be temporarily logged out for about 5 minutes, and fee schedules will be reset. After the change, you usually need to redo KYC identity verification, and sometimes you may be required to submit new proof of address (utility bills or bank statements from the last 3 months). The overall process is quite long.
Step 3: Don't Want to Change It? Want to Register a New Account Instead?
You can, but you need to use a different set of contact details. The same person using the same phone number and email can theoretically only register once. If you think changing your residence is too troublesome and want to register a new account for another region, you need to prepare another phone number or email that has not been registered with OKX before.
Also, the system's risk control will check account ownership. If it determines that one person has multiple accounts, it may trigger additional verification requirements.

Step 4: What Does That "Region" Actually Affect?
Your product permissions, trading features, and fiat deposit/withdrawal channels are all tied to this "residence." For example, the Germany region supports SEPA bank transfer deposits, while some other regions may not have this feature. Before changing your residence, think about which region's features you actually need. Do not choose a place you do not actually live in just because it "seems convenient" — your KYC will get stuck, and you will not be able to provide proof of address.
How to verify after making changes: Check the [Country/Region of Residence] field in the App to confirm the displayed region matches what you expected. If you just made the change, wait for the system to send a notification email confirming the change was successful, then try using a feature specific to the new region (for example, check whether a region-specific deposit method appears).
