Does a Wrong Birthday on Binance Affect Identity Verification? Modification Conditions and Steps
Entering the wrong birthday will affect your identity verification, but it can be modified under certain conditions. The prerequisite is that your identity verification has not passed final review, or you have documentation that can prove your correct date of birth.

1. First, Confirm Your Verification Status
Whether and how you can modify a wrong birthday depends on the current stage of your verification process.
Step 1: Check the current verification progress
What to do: Log in to your Binance account and go to the identity verification page.
How to do it:
App: Bottom right [Portfolio/Assets] → [User Center] → [Identity Verification].
Web: Top right avatar → [User Center] → [Identity Verification].
What qualifies as completed: You will see your verification status, which may be "Pending", "Failed", or "Verified".
2. Handling Different Statuses
Case A: Verification is still under review (Pending)
If the verification has not yet returned a result, you cannot directly modify it in the system. Binance's identity verification process locks data after submission. You can try contacting Binance customer support to request a withdrawal or modification of the application, but success is not guaranteed.
Case B: Verification has failed (Failed)
This is the easiest situation to handle. After the system indicates verification failure, the verification page usually displays an "Edit Information" or "Retry" option.
Step 2: Re-edit information on the failure page
What to do: Click [Edit Information] or [Re-verify] to enter the information filling page.
How to do it: Change the date of birth to exactly match your identification document, using the format YYYY-MM-DD. Binance's system compares the entered information with the uploaded document; any character deviation will result in failure. Ensure all information matches the original ID word for word, then resubmit.
What qualifies as completed: Successful submission and re-entering the review status.
Case C: Verification has already passed
If verification has passed but the birthday is indeed wrong, the situation is more complicated. You cannot directly modify verified information; you must go through the formal "Update Identity Verification Info" process.
Step 3: Use the "Update Identity Verification Info" feature
What to do: Access Binance's "Update Identity Verification Info" page.
How to do it: The entrance is generally in [User Center] → [Identity Verification] → [Update Identity Info]. Select the update reason (e.g., "ID document information error"), and follow the prompts to resubmit correct personal information and document photos.
What qualifies as completed: After submitting the application, the account will temporarily enter a "withdrawal only" mode until the new information is approved.
Prerequisites: You need to have the complete identification document (original ID card or passport) with all information clearly visible. Also, ensure the linked email and mobile number are active and verified, otherwise the verification chain may break.

3. If the Automatic Modification Is Unsuccessful
If the above process does not work, or the page does not provide an edit option, try the following methods.
Step 4: Apply for manual review after consecutive failures
What to do: After the automated system fails twice in a row, a manual review entrance is usually opened.
How to do it: On the verification failure page, click [Apply for Manual Review]. Upload additional documents as required, typically including a photo holding the front of the ID, the back of the ID, a recent bareheaded half-length photo, etc. Ensure the photos are clear and without glare. Manual review usually takes 24-72 hours.
Step 5: Contact online customer support
What to do: If all self-service methods fail, resolve the issue through Binance's official customer support channel.
How to do it: Click the [Help] icon at the bottom right of the web page, select [Live Chat]. Explain the situation to the agent, provide any related error codes (if any), or follow the agent's guidance to submit materials.
Common failure reasons: The entered information does not match the document information word for word, for example, extra spaces in the name pinyin, incorrect date of birth format (not YYYY-MM-DD), or nationality selection not matching the document issuer (e.g., a mainland China user selecting "Hong Kong SAR" instead of "China").
Risk reminder: During the identity verification update application, the account will be temporarily restricted to "withdrawal only" mode and new transactions cannot be conducted. Additionally, Binance prohibits transferring accounts to others or using another person's ID for verification.
After completing the above steps, how do you confirm the issue has been resolved?
After submitting the modification, check the status update on the [Identity Verification] page. If it shows "Verified" and the linked personal information (birthday field) has been updated to the correct date, the modification was successful. If it remains unapproved for more than 72 hours, it is advisable to prepare screenshots of transaction records and the application ticket number, then contact online customer support again for assistance.
