The official requirements for proof of address can be viewed directly in the Binance Help Center. You can find the instructions on the "Identity Verification" page. When your account verification reaches a certain stage, the system will ask you to upload a proof of address document (Proof of Address, POA) to verify that the residential address you entered is real.

Step 1: Go to identity verification and find the proof of address entry

Goal: Find Binance's official proof of address requirements and upload entry. How to do it: Log in to the Binance app or website, tap the "Profile" icon, go to "Account," and select "Identity Verification." The page will show items that need verification. If proof of address is currently required, there will be a clear upload entry and instructions. Done when: You see an upload area for "Proof of Address" or "Residential Address Verification" on the identity verification page.

Step 2: Check the document requirements for proof of address

Goal: Confirm your document meets Binance's format, content, and time requirements. How to do it: Binance has these strict requirements for proof of address:

  • Time validity: In most regions, documents must be issued within the last 3 months. Some countries, such as Argentina, Australia, and Italy, require 3 months. India requires 2 months, and Binance.US requires within 90 days.

  • Content consistency: The name on the document must match the name on your Binance account exactly, and the address must match the residential address you entered on the verification page exactly.

  • Required information: The document must include your name, full address, issue date, issuing organization name, and identifiable information.

  • Format: PDF upload is recommended. Color screenshots or scans are also accepted, but photocopies are not accepted.

Step 3: Prepare an accepted document type

Goal: Choose one of the document types Binance clearly accepts. How to do it: Documents Binance accepts include:

  • Utility bills: electricity, water, gas, landline/internet bills. Mobile phone bills are usually not accepted.

  • Bank/financial institution documents: bank or credit card statements, investment account statements.

  • Government-issued documents: official letters, residence certificates, lease agreements, etc.

  • Other: home insurance policies, property management fee bills.

Documents that are not accepted: pay slips, employment contracts, credit card bills issued by retailers, transaction receipts, and mobile phone bills (except in some regions).

Risk reminder: If the address on the document is a P.O. Box, Binance will not accept it. The address must be a physical residential address, and it cannot be the same document used for identity verification.

Common reasons for failed review

Expired documents are the most common reason for rejection. Many users submit bills issued more than 6 months ago, and the system rejects them directly. The second common reason is submitting mobile phone bills or pay slips, which are not accepted in most cases. Address mismatch is also common: if the address you entered has any small difference from the address on the bill, the system will judge it as not matching and reject it.

Follow-up instructions

You can go to your bank app and download an electronic statement from the last 3 months in PDF format. Check that the name and address match the residential address you entered exactly, then upload it on the identity verification page. After submission, review is usually completed within 1-2 business days. Watch for notifications in the app or by email.
