Binance Pay Shows Zero Fees: Why Did the Recipient Receive Less?

It is indeed possible for Binance Pay to show zero fees, but this only holds true in specific scenarios—the transfer is completely free only when both parties are Binance users and you send a cryptocurrency supported by Binance Pay. If the recipient received less, the issue almost certainly lies in "cross-border payments" or "fiat transfers," not Binance deducting a fee.

Here are two steps to troubleshoot why the recipient received a smaller amount.

Step 1: Identify Your Transfer Type

Binance Pay covers both completely free and fee-charged scenarios. You need to identify which one applies to your transfer first.

What to do: Confirm the Binance Pay feature you used and the recipient's situation.

How to do it:

  • Scenario A (Crypto transfers between Binance accounts): Both you and the recipient have Binance accounts, and the transfer is made directly via Binance ID, email, or phone number. This transaction is completed within the Binance platform (off-chain) and does not go through the blockchain network, so there are no blockchain gas fees and no platform fees.

  • Scenario B (Cross-border fiat transfers / Send Cash): You used the Binance Pay "Send Cash" feature to convert cryptocurrency into local fiat and transfer it to the recipient's bank account. This service involves fees: a flat fee of 0.5 USD for transactions under 100 USD, and 1 USD for 100 USD and above. Additionally, cross-border international transfers may incur extra charges from the remitting bank or intermediary banks.

  • Scenario C (Transfers to wallets outside Binance): If you transfer crypto assets from Binance Pay to your own decentralized wallet (DeFi wallet), network fees and platform fees will apply.

When you're done: You have confirmed which of the above scenarios applies to your transfer and have ruled out the assumption that "all Binance Pay transfers are free."

Common mistake: Many people assume "all Binance Pay transfers are free," overlooking the "Send Cash" and "transfer to external wallet" services that do charge fees.

Step 2: Investigate the Three Main Stages Where the Recipient's Amount May Be Reduced

If you have confirmed Scenario B (cross-border fiat transfer), the reduction in the amount received usually happens at one of the following stages.

What to do: Based on the recipient's region, check where the deductions may have occurred.

How to do it:

  • Check local taxes in the recipient's country: Certain countries and regions (e.g., Argentina, Colombia) deduct local taxes directly from the received amount. Official documentation clearly states that taxes required by local tax authorities will be deducted from the received amount, and these charges are not collected by Binance.

  • Check intermediary bank fees: International transfers may pass through intermediary banks, which may deduct handling fees from the transfer amount.

  • Check exchange rate losses: If you sent cryptocurrency but the recipient received fiat, the amount has been converted through an exchange rate. The final received fiat amount is linked to the exchange rate at the time of conversion and may slightly differ from your estimate at the time of sending. The system automatically calculates and displays all applicable fees and the exchange rate for your review before the transaction.

When you're done: You have identified the specific reason for the shortfall based on the recipient's location and the transfer method.

How to Ensure You Are Doing It Correctly

Before confirming the transaction, carefully check the amount and fee details on the Binance Pay confirmation page. The system clearly displays the applicable fees and exchange rate before final confirmation. If you still find a discrepancy after confirmation, ask the recipient to check whether their local bank or an intermediary bank deducted taxes or fees.

If both you and the recipient are Binance users and you transferred using a Binance ID, email, or phone number, the received amount should exactly match the sent amount. If the amount the recipient received is still less in this case, first check whether the recipient automatically converted to a different currency after the transfer, resulting in an exchange rate loss.
