Binance Onchain Yields has an easily overlooked cost in its redemption rules: early redemption will make you lose all accumulated rewards. This is not a small proportional deduction. It resets everything to zero. So when choosing a protocol, redemption terms and lock-up periods should be at least as important as the annualized yield.

First, make sure which "Onchain Yields" you are actually looking at
Binance currently has two products with similar names but completely different mechanisms. Mixing them up can easily lead you to the wrong page.
"Onchain Yields" under the Earn section can be found at Homepage [Earn] → [High Yield] → [Onchain Yields]. This is the product discussed in this article. It packages onchain protocols such as Babylon, Solv, Lista, and Aave into products you can subscribe to directly inside your Binance account. You do not need an onchain wallet or need to operate staking contracts yourself.
"DeFi Earn" inside the Web3 Wallet can be found in the wallet feature of the Binance App. This is a non-custodial product. Assets are onchain and you control the private keys yourself. You need to understand smart contract interactions and gas fees. It aggregates protocols such as lending and liquidity pools, but its redemption and risk logic is different from the former.
If you want to earn yield by simply clicking a few buttons inside your Binance account, choose the first one. If you are familiar with onchain operations and want non-custodial control, choose the second one.
Protocol selection: look at reward tokens and lock-up periods
The main protocols and reward structures currently available in Onchain Yields:
| Protocol | Staked asset | Reward token | Reference APR | Lock-up period / redemption features |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Babylon | BTC | BABY | 0.3%–0.49% | Fixed term. Early redemption loses all rewards. Principal returned within 3 days. |
| Solv Protocol | BTC | SOLV | 0.2%–0.36% | Fixed term. Early redemption loses all rewards. Principal returned within 3 days. |
| Lista | BNB | BNB | 0.2%–0.38% | Early redemption usually returned within 8 days. May be delayed in extreme cases. |
| Aave-Plasma | USDT | USDT | 1.8%–2.45% | Stablecoin lending type. Interest rate fluctuates with the market. |
The APR data comes from the range shown on the Onchain Yields page. Actual rates will change with market conditions. Always check the real-time data on the page before subscribing.
The two BTC staking protocols, Babylon and Solv, offer different reward tokens. This is the key to your choice. You stake BTC, but you receive BABY or SOLV. If the price of these tokens drops by the time you claim them, your real return measured in BTC may shrink. You need to decide whether you are willing to take on the price risk of these additional tokens.
Lista BNB's redemption time deserves special attention. Its early redemption return period is 8 days, longer than the 3 days for Babylon and Solv. If you may need to use your BNB in the short to medium term, this time difference will affect your fund planning.
Redemption: once confirmed, it cannot be cancelled
The redemption rules for Onchain Yields have one bottom line: once a redemption request is confirmed, it cannot be cancelled.
If you choose a fixed-term product such as Babylon or Solv, redeeming before maturity counts as "early redemption." The consequence is that you lose all accumulated rewards. It is not calculated by the number of days. Everything is reset to zero. The principal will be returned to your spot account within 3 days, but no more rewards will be generated during that period.
If redemption happens automatically after maturity, rewards will be paid to your spot account in one lump sum. For Babylon and Solv, rewards accumulate daily but are paid out in full only at maturity. They are not credited daily.
Redemption may be delayed due to network congestion, protocol failure, or a large number of simultaneous requests. This is not something Binance can control on its own.
Onchain Yields is not "principal-protected wealth management"
Binance's official description of the risks of Onchain Yields is very direct: it is a high-risk product that does not guarantee principal or returns. Rewards depend on the specific protocol.
The specific risks include three layers. Smart contract risk: the protocol itself may have technical vulnerabilities, and funds may be lost because of this. Market volatility: protocol yields may change with market conditions and may even cause asset depreciation. Protocol failure: operational or technical problems in the protocol may lead to asset losses.
In these risks, Binance's role is that of a channel and interface, not a guarantor. The official terms clearly state that Binance is not responsible for asset losses caused by onchain protocol issues.
Subscription and interest accrual timing
Rewards start accumulating at 08:00 (UTC+8) on the day after subscription. You can view the first day's rewards on T+2. Due to data processing complexity, the display may be delayed by up to 8 hours.
For example: if you subscribe to BTC today (T day), accumulation starts tomorrow (T+1), and the day after tomorrow (T+2) you will see the rewards for T day.
This timing means that no yield is generated on the day of subscription, and no yield is generated on the day of redemption either. If your funds have a clear short-term purpose, you need to factor in this idle period.
