Why You Can't Close Your Binance Account with Open Orders

Having open orders means you cannot close your account; this is a hard requirement of the Binance system, not a bug. Before you can delete your account, you must ensure there are no unfinished transactions—including limit orders, open positions, unwithdrawn deposits, and all other pending activities. The system won't let you leave with unfinished business; you need to wrap everything up yourself.

Below we show you how to check and resolve these.

Step 1: Identify what "open" items remain on your account

Log in to the Binance app or website and check each of the following:

How to check:

  1. Spot open orders: [Trade] – [Spot Orders] – check the "Open Orders" list, and click [Cancel] on all outstanding orders.

  2. Futures positions: [Futures] – [USDⓈ-M Futures] – [Positions], check for any open positions. If any, click [Close Position].

  3. Fiat/P2P orders: [P2P Trading] – [Order History], filter for orders with "Pending Payment" or "Pending Release", and complete them as required.

  4. Withdrawal/deposit records: [Assets] – [Withdrawal History], look for any statuses such as "Under Review" or "Processing". Pending withdrawals are also considered open items by the system.

  5. Sub-accounts: If you have created sub-accounts, go to the [Sub-Accounts] page and make sure their balances, open orders and positions are completely empty.

Completion standard: Each module should show "No Open Orders", "No Open Positions" or "Cleared".

Prerequisite: You can log in to your Binance account normally.

Step 2: If you can't find any open orders but the closure is still rejected

Sometimes you think you've cleaned up everything, but the system still says "Open orders exist". Possible reasons include:

  • Withdrawals flagged as high-risk or suspicious that are in a manual review queue. Even if the transaction is completed, the account closure function may be locked until the flag is cleared.

  • Recent KYC anomalies can trigger a compliance review, putting your account into a "pending cleanup" state even with a zero balance.

How to proceed: Go to [Security Center] – [Account Closure] page, and click [View Details] to see the specific reason for the block. The system will show exactly which step is stuck.

Completion standard: You see a concrete blocking reason, not "Unknown cause".

Step 3: Submit the closure request after clearing all obstacles

How to do it:

  1. Once you've confirmed all the above modules are cleaned up, return to the [Account Closure] page.

  2. If the [Request Closure] button becomes clickable, it means the system check has passed.

  3. Tick the box to confirm you understand the consequences, enter your login password, and complete the security verification.

  4. The system will send an email with a 6-digit confirmation code to your registered email address. You must click the link in the email within 24 hours to finalize the closure, otherwise the request will be automatically cancelled.

Completion standard: The page shows "Account successfully deleted".

Common reason for failure: You cleared only the main account balance but forgot to check sub-accounts. Assets or open orders in sub-accounts still count toward the overall account, causing the closure to be rejected.

How to confirm it's done

After submitting the closure, log out and try logging in again with your original phone number or email. If the system says "Account does not exist" or "User not registered", the deletion is complete. Once an account is closed, the account and all transaction history cannot be recovered.

Tip: If you only want to take a break, we don't recommend permanent deletion — you can't restore it and would need a completely new identity to re-register. Consider temporarily disabling your account or simply removing the app instead.
