You have enabled auto-borrow for Binance margin trading, but find your available balance is still insufficient when placing an order, and the system did not borrow funds for you. First confirm one thing: Is the auto-borrow toggle definitely turned on in your margin trading interface?

Step 1: Confirm that "Auto Mode" is truly enabled

[What to do]: Check the status of the "Auto Borrow" toggle on your trading interface, to make sure the system is in auto-borrow mode.

[How to do it]:

  • Mobile App: Go to [Trade] - [Spot], tap [Margin] to switch to the margin trading page. Find the [Auto] tab in the order input area, and confirm the toggle next to "Auto Borrow" is turned on. If both auto functions are turned off, your order will run in "Normal" mode, and no auto-borrow will happen.

  • Web Platform: Go to [Trade] - Margin Trading, under the [Cross Margin] or [Isolated Margin] tab, confirm the current mode shown is [Auto Borrow] or [Auto Repay]. If it shows [Normal], the auto function is not enabled.

[Completion Check]: The interface shows that auto-borrow is turned on, and there is an "Auto" or "Borrow" label next to the order input box.

Step 2: Check if your available balance and borrow limit are sufficient

[What to do]: The reason auto-borrow did not trigger may not be the toggle, but balance or limit restrictions.

[How to do it]:

Scenario A: You have balance in your account, but margin wallet balance is insufficient If your margin account balance is lower than the required order amount, the system will automatically transfer funds from your spot wallet (auto transfer is enabled by default), then borrow the remaining required amount. But if your spot wallet also does not have enough balance, the system may fail to complete the borrow.

Scenario B: The borrow request exceeds the maximum borrowable amount The system will check if your requested borrow amount exceeds your current maximum borrow limit. If it exceeds, you will see an error similar to Your borrow amount has exceed maximum borrow amount, you need to lower your order amount or adjust your margin leverage first.

Scenario C: System inventory is insufficient Error code INSUFFICIENT_INVENTORY means "the system does not have enough available assets", which may appear for manual or auto-borrow orders. If the system inventory is severely low, all borrow requests will be rejected.

Scenario D: The asset is disabled for borrowing Error code ASSET_ADMIN_BAN_BORROW means this asset does not support borrowing at the moment.

[Completion Check]: You have confirmed your margin account balance, spot account balance, the maximum borrowable limit for this crypto asset, and the system inventory status.

Step 3: Troubleshoot special cases where auto-borrow order is not filled

One easily overlooked point: After your auto-borrow order is placed successfully, the system will start calculating interest immediately, but this does not mean the order has been filled.

[What to do]: Distinguish between two cases: "borrow completed but order not filled" and "borrow never happened at all".

[How to do it]:

  1. If the system shows "Borrowed" but the order status is "Unfilled", that means the funds have been borrowed successfully, the price just has not reached your set level, and the order is still in the open order list. Check the open orders tab to view the pending order status.

  2. If your auto-borrow order is canceled before it gets filled, the borrowed amount will be repaid automatically, but corresponding interest may still be charged.

[Completion Check]: You can clearly confirm if your order is "borrow succeeded but not filled" or "never got the borrowed funds".

Verification Method: Go to the "Margin Account" page to check "Borrow History" or "Outstanding Liabilities". If you see new liabilities added, the borrow succeeded; if your liabilities did not change at all, the auto-borrow truly did not trigger. Then find this order in your "Order History" to check if the order type is marked as "Auto Borrow".

Next Step: If you have checked all the above steps and the issue still exists, manually borrow funds under the "Normal" mode first, then place your order. Although it takes one extra step, you can confirm the funds are ready for trading.
