Receiving USDT salary on OKX comes down to handling three things separately: choosing the right network for the on-chain deposit, preparing proof of funds source in advance, and confirming your withdrawal path is available. Among these three steps, the network choice is the most likely to cause problems, while the most underestimated is that OKX may ask you to prove the legal source of your USDT.

Receiving USDT on OKX: Network Choice Determines Arrival

USDT runs on multiple blockchains, and OKX supports several of them. The receiver (your OKX account) and the sender (your employer or client) must choose the same network. Otherwise, the funds may not arrive.

Common USDT networks supported by OKX include Tron (TRC20) and Ethereum (ERC20). The differences are clear: TRC20 is fast and has low fees, making it suitable for small payments. ERC20 is relatively more secure but slower and more expensive, making it better for large amounts.

There is one easy trap to avoid: OKX does not support USDT deposits or withdrawals on the BSC (BEP20) network. It only supports BNB on that network. If you are used to sending USDT on BSC, sending it to an OKX BSC address will cause the funds to fail to arrive normally. Before paying, ask the sender to check the supported network list on the OKX deposit page. Do not choose based on habit.

Arrival time depends on blockchain confirmations. It may be delayed when the network is congested. You can check the status in the deposit history in the App. If the network is confirmed to be the same but the funds have not arrived after more than 2 hours, contact OKX customer support and provide the transaction ID (TxID).

Proof of Funds Source: When It Is Needed and What to Prepare

As a regulated platform, OKX may ask users to explain the legal source of their funds. This is a routine compliance process and does not mean there is a problem with your account.

Source of Funds (SoF) and Source of Wealth (SoW) are two different concepts. SoF refers to where this specific amount of funds you use on OKX comes from. SoW refers to how your overall personal wealth was accumulated. For a USDT salary scenario, both can usually be classified as "employment income."

Acceptable proof documents for salary income include:

  • Payslips: issued within the last 3 months, showing your full name, company name, and salary amount
  • Bank statements: showing salary deposits in the last 3 months, often marked with "salary" or "SAL"
  • Employment contract: issued within the last 3 months, including job confirmation and salary details
  • Tax documents: employment income records from the past 12 months

If you bought USDT with fiat currency through OKX's C2C feature and the platform later asks about the source of that USDT, you can still choose "employment income" and submit salary documents that prove the source of your fiat currency. You do not need to provide the transfer records of the USDT itself.

One detail to note: a corporate bank statement cannot directly prove personal salary income. If the USDT you received comes from a company account but you cannot prove that the money ultimately belongs to you as personal salary, the review may not pass.

If your account shows a message like "We need to know more about you," find the corresponding task on the App home page or identity verification page and upload the documents as instructed. If you do not handle it before the deadline, account functions may be restricted.

Withdrawal: The Path from USDT to Fiat

After USDT arrives in OKX, if you need to convert it to fiat currency, OKX offers a C2C selling feature. You can choose the express zone or the self-select zone, set your payment method (Alipay, WeChat, or bank transfer), post a sell order, and release the crypto after the buyer pays.

C2C selling has a security mechanism to note: buying crypto may trigger T+N protection. The platform's risk control system may restrict you from selling, withdrawing, or making DEX trades for 3, 7, or 15 days. This means if you want to sell immediately after receiving USDT, you might be locked for a period. This is not a malfunction; it is part of the risk assessment.

Fiat arrival time depends on the payment method. Bank transfers usually take 1–3 business days. Digital wallet payments are usually completed within minutes.

A Practical Checklist

Before receiving, ask the sender to confirm: the currency is USDT, the network is one of those shown as supported on your OKX deposit page (such as TRC20), and the amount is not below the minimum deposit limit.

After arrival, if you plan to withdraw or trade, first confirm that there are no unfinished verification tasks on your account. OKX compliance prompts usually appear on the identity verification page or as a home page banner. Checking in advance can avoid being interrupted midway through an operation.

If the platform requires proof of funds source, salary-related documents (payslips, bank statements, employment contracts) are the most direct. Prepare materials from the last 3 months. The files should be clear, complete, and show the amounts.
