UAE users move AED in and out of banks through OKX using a local bank transfer channel. This works only if your account is served by OKX Middle East Fintech FZE and you use a UAE local bank account. Depositing (sending AED to OKX) and withdrawing (sending AED to your bank) are two separate paths, each with its own account verification requirements and fee rules. The most important rule is this: before your first withdrawal, you must first deposit funds from the same bank account to OKX to verify account ownership. Otherwise, the withdrawal option will be greyed out and cannot be selected.

Is your account a "UAE account"?
The OKX experience for UAE residents is provided by OKX Middle East Fintech FZE, an entity licensed by Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA). Under this entity, you can access AED trading pairs and deposit and withdraw AED directly from UAE local bank accounts. If your account registration location or verification information is not in the UAE, or if the ID document you used to open the account is not from this region, the AED fiat channel may not appear in your interface at all. The official help page FAQ answers this directly: if you cannot see the "Deposit AED" or "Withdraw AED" options, it is because this feature is only available in specific regions, and your account currently does not meet the access conditions. This is not a bug — it is an eligibility issue.
Depositing: Transferring AED from a local bank to OKX
OKX does not charge a platform fee for deposits, but your bank may charge a transfer fee. Only UAE local bank accounts are supported. Transfers are not supported from crypto exchanges, cross-border payment services (Revolut, Wise, etc.), or e-wallets (e&money, Careem Pay, Payit, Ziina, etc.). This means if you are used to moving funds through Wise or Revolut, this route will not work — the transfer will be rejected or returned.
To deposit, go to the Assets page on OKX, select Deposit AED, link your bank account (you can link up to 5), and then initiate a transfer from your bank using the unique IBAN shown on the page. Only AED is accepted; transfers in other currencies will be returned. Your bank may have a cooling-off period of up to 2 hours when adding a new payee. This is a bank-side restriction, not OKX processing time.
Withdrawing: Sending AED from OKX to your bank
Withdrawal has one more requirement than deposit. For your first withdrawal, you need to verify ownership of the receiving bank account. The verification method is to deposit funds from that same bank account into OKX. Once the deposit is successfully processed, that bank account is considered verified and can be selected as a withdrawal destination. Unverified accounts appear light grey on the withdrawal page and cannot be selected.
Regarding fees and limits, different language versions of the OKX help pages show inconsistent information. The Chinese (UAE) page states a withdrawal fee of 35 AED, a minimum withdrawal amount of 200 AED (including fees), and instant processing 24/7 for transactions of 50,000 AED or below. The English (UAE) page states that "the withdrawal process is free of charge," but processing takes up to 3 business days for amounts of 50,000 AED or below. The Spanish page states a fee of 75 AED and a processing time of 1 business day. These differences across language pages suggest that fees and processing times may be in the process of being updated, or that different page versions correspond to different account batches. Always refer to the actual fee and processing time shown on your withdrawal page after logging in, and do not rely on static numbers from any single language help page. The process is: Assets → Withdraw → Select AED → Choose withdrawal method and enter amount → Preview and enter verification code to complete.
Two common pitfalls
Third-party accounts are always rejected. OKX explicitly requires that transfers must come from a bank account under your own name. The OKX account name must match the bank account name. Third-party deposits will be rejected. If you use a family member's or friend's account to transfer funds, the money will be returned and may trigger an account review.
Deposit and withdrawal use two different verification systems — do not mix them up. For deposits, you just need to link your bank account. For withdrawals, you also need to complete the "deposit funds from that account" verification step. If you try to withdraw first and find the account greyed out, then go back to deposit, the verification will automatically complete after the deposit succeeds and the greyed-out account will become selectable. However, if your deposit comes from a bank account that has not yet been linked, that account will also be included in the verification status once the funds arrive. In terms of order, depositing first and then withdrawing is the smoother path.
What success looks like
A successful deposit is confirmed when your OKX account's AED balance increases and you can see the deposit in your asset records. A successful withdrawal is not marked by "application submitted" — it is when your bank account actually receives the AED and the status in your withdrawal records matches your bank statement. Withdrawals under 50,000 AED processed through the instant channel are usually fast, but delays can occur during system or bank-side interruptions. If your withdrawal request has been submitted but the money has not arrived in your bank, first check the status in your withdrawal history, then compare it with your bank statement. Only if both sides show no record should you contact OKX support and provide the withdrawal record number.
