Prerequisites
Before starting registration, confirm the following:
Location Support: OKX has officially launched in the UAE, authorized by the Dubai Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) (License No. VL/23/12/003). UAE residents can register and use it normally.
Identification Document: Prepare a valid ID issued by the UAE government (Emirates ID or passport), which will be required for KYC verification later.
Phone Number: Have a UAE mobile number (starting with +971) that can receive SMS to get the registration verification code.
Steps
Case A: Register with Phone Number
Open the OKX official website or app, click "Sign Up/Login" and then select "Register Now".
From the "Country/Region" drop-down list, select "United Arab Emirates".
The system will automatically fill in the international dialing code as "+971". After confirming the code is correct, enter the remaining numbers after removing "+971" in the phone number input field (UAE mobile numbers are typically 9 digits).
Click "Get Code" and enter the 6-digit verification code received via SMS.
Completion Standard: The page shows "Registration Successful", and you can log in with your phone number and password.
Case B: Register with Email
On the registration page, click the "Email Registration" option.
After entering your email address, the system will ask you to select a country/region. Select "United Arab Emirates".
Set a password and enter the verification code sent to your email to complete registration.
Completion Standard: The page shows "Registration Successful", and you can log in with your email and password.
Regardless of whether you register with a phone number or email, it is recommended to immediately go to [Security Settings] after logging in to bind the other method. Completing dual verification enhances account security.
Key Reminder: Consistency Requirement
Country/Region + International Dialing Code + Identification Document must all be consistent.
When you select UAE at registration, subsequent KYC must upload a government-issued ID from the UAE (such as Emirates ID or passport).
If an ID from another country is uploaded, the identity verification will be rejected.
Common Reasons for Failure
Dialing Code and Phone Number Mismatch: If you select +971 but enter a number from another country, the verification code won't reach your phone.
Not Receiving Verification Code: Check if your phone has SMS blocking enabled, or contact your carrier to confirm whether international SMS can be received. The UAE international code is +971; calls from abroad to the UAE must dial +971 + area code + the subscriber number.
Risk Warning
Do Not Use VPN to Falsify Registration Location: OKX will check whether your registration IP matches the selected country. If you fill in UAE but your IP shows another country, it may trigger risk controls.
Do Not Arbitrarily Change Registration Country: The country/region selected at registration is tied to KYC, and the platform does not support users actively modifying their registered country information afterwards.
Unverified Accounts Cannot Handle Funds: An account that has not completed identity verification cannot buy/sell crypto, deposit/withdraw, or transfer funds.
Eligible Client Threshold: UAE users who wish to trade derivatives must complete a knowledge test, suitability assessment, and submit bank statements proving at least 500,000 AED in liquid cash.
