Directly select "China" as the country/region of residence, and fill in Taiwan's international code +886 for the phone number. Currently, the international version of OKX still supports registration and use by Taiwan users, but some services targeting the Taiwan region have been adjusted — for example, since June 24, 2024, OKX has suspended Taiwan users from using New Taiwan Dollar (TWD) for C2C trading, but still supports other currencies and services such as deposits and withdrawals.

1. First Confirm Whether Taiwan Users Can Register on OKX

What to do: Understand OKX's policies for the Taiwan region and confirm whether registration is feasible.

How to do it:

  • As of 2026, OKX has not been banned by the Taiwan government, and Taiwan users can normally register, deposit, and trade.

  • OKX is an overseas platform, with legal jurisdiction in Dubai, and is not directly supervised by the Taiwan Financial Supervisory Commission.

  • Taiwan users cannot directly deposit New Taiwan Dollar. They need to purchase USDT through third-party payments (P2P) and then transfer it in, or purchase USDT on other exchanges and then transfer it to OKX.

When is it done: Clearly understand that "Taiwan users can register, but some functions are restricted."

Since June 24, 2024, OKX has suspended Taiwan users from using New Taiwan Dollar (TWD) for C2C trading. However, functions such as deposits/withdrawals and C2C trading in other currencies remain available.

2. Fill in Country/Region of Residence on OKX

What to do: Select the correct option in the country/region field on the registration page.

How to do it:

  1. Open the OKX App or official website registration page.

  2. In the "Country/Region of Residence" dropdown list, select China.

  3. Check the box to agree to the terms of service and click next.

When is it done: The page shows the country/region as "China".

Some tutorials mention that you can also select "Taiwan, China" or "Hong Kong, China" to complete registration, but in practice, most Taiwan users recommend directly selecting "China" because the subsequent KYC still requires valid identity documents for verification.

3. Fill in International Code and Phone Number

What to do: Select the correct code in the phone number input field and enter your Taiwan phone number.

How to do it:

  1. In the country code dropdown menu on the left side of the phone number input field, find and select +886 (Taiwan's international code).

  2. Enter your Taiwan phone number. Note: Do not include the leading "0" when entering the number.

    • For example: If the phone number is 0912-345-678, enter 912345678.

  3. Click "Get verification code" and enter the SMS verification code received to complete verification.

When is it done: Receive the SMS verification code and successfully enter it; the page shows "Verified".

Prerequisite: The phone number must be able to receive SMS verification codes normally.

Taiwan international code is +886. When entering the phone number, be sure to remove the first "0". For example, the Taiwan phone number 0912-345-678 should be entered as 912345678.

4. Complete KYC Identity Verification

What to do: After registration, you need to complete identity verification (KYC) to unlock trading, deposit, and withdrawal functions.

How to do it:

  1. Go to ProfileIdentity Verification.

  2. Select "China" as the country/region of residence (keep it consistent with registration).

  3. Upload valid identity documents (Taiwan users can use Taiwan ID card or passport).

  4. Follow the prompts to complete facial recognition.

  5. Submit and wait for review, which usually takes from a few minutes to 24 hours.

When is it done: The account shows "Verified" or "Standard Identity Verification" status.

Common reasons for failure:

  • ID photo is blurry or has reflections.

  • Facial recognition movements are not standard.

  • Registration region does not match the ID document region.

Risk reminder:

  • OKX has suspended TWD C2C trading for Taiwan users. Deposits need to be made via USDT transfer or other methods.

  • OKX is an overseas platform with legal jurisdiction in Dubai. If a dispute arises, it must be handled through OKX customer service and overseas arbitration.

How to confirm that you have filled in correctly?

On the registration page, the country/region is displayed as "China", the phone code is +886, the phone number has the leading "0" removed, and the verification code is successfully received — if these three items are correctly filled in, you can continue with the registration process. At the KYC stage, after completing verification with a valid Taiwan identity document and passing the review, the account is activated. The next recommended step is to enable two-factor authentication (2FA) to enhance account security.
