Unlike bank transfers, cryptocurrency on-chain transactions cannot be reversed once confirmed. If you enter the wrong address, choose the wrong network, or miss a Memo, your funds most likely cannot be recovered. Sending a small amount first to confirm every detail is correct is the cheapest way to limit loss.
Step 1: Confirm the receiving address and network—check both sides before copying
Do not directly copy an address from the withdrawal page. First, ask the recipient to go to Assets → Deposit on OKX or the platform they use, choose the coin, manually confirm the network, and generate an address before copying it to you.
After pasting it into the withdrawal page, manually compare the first 6 and last 6 characters to make sure they match what you copied. Clipboard hijacking attacks are not rare, so this step can block many problems.
Completion standard: The address you hold is the same string shown on the recipient's deposit page, and you know which chain it belongs to, such as TRC20, ERC20, or BSC.
Step 2: Choose the network—both sides must match exactly
This is the easiest step to get wrong. The network you choose for withdrawal must be exactly the same as the network on the recipient's deposit page. If the recipient chooses TRC20, choose TRC20. If they choose ERC20, choose ERC20. If the networks do not match, your assets go to another chain.
Common reason for failure: Thinking a USDT address works on every network. It does not. USDT addresses on TRC20, ERC20, and BSC are usually completely different. The address follows the chain, not the coin.
Completion standard: The 'withdrawal network' on the withdrawal page matches the network shown on the recipient's deposit page, and the system does not show an 'invalid address format' warning.
Step 3: Send the minimum amount and confirm arrival
Most platforms allow a minimum withdrawal amount of around 10 USDT. Send that amount first; do not add more. After submitting, go to Withdrawal History and copy the TxID, then check its status in a block explorer. If the status is 'Success' and the number of confirmations is enough, ask the recipient to check their balance.
Completion standard: The recipient can see this small amount on their Assets page, and the balance has increased.
Step 4: After arrival is confirmed, send the rest using the same steps
Once the small amount arrives, do not change the address or network. Directly use the same address from the successful transaction and send the remaining amount on the same network. Do not switch to a new address or network at this point.
Risk reminder: Even after a test transfer, something can still go wrong
A small test transfer can prevent most mistakes, but not all. If the recipient is an exchange and requires a Memo or Tag, and you forget it during the test, the small amount may not arrive. Another case: you complete the test, confirm arrival, and then the network pauses when you send the larger amount—the transaction gets stuck and can only be processed after the network recovers. So a small test is not only checking the address. It also checks whether this path is currently working.

How to verify after the operation
After submitting the test transaction, check the status in Withdrawal History. Once the status shows 'Completed,' ask the recipient to check whether the balance on their Assets page has increased. If both sides match, send the rest. If the status is stuck on 'Processing' for more than 30 minutes, first check the TxID in a block explorer to confirm whether it is on-chain, then decide whether to wait or contact support.
