As a new user, you only need to know one entry for fund distribution: the Assets tab. All your crypto and money can be seen on this page. They may just be split into different accounts. For example, after you buy crypto, it goes to the Funding account by default. If you want to trade, you first need to transfer it to the Trading account. You should understand this difference early.

Step 1: Find the Assets entry

What to do: Find the main page in the OKX app where you can view all assets.

How to do it: Open the OKX app, tap the Assets or My Assets tab in the bottom navigation.

Done when: The top of the page shows Total asset value, and below it you can see the list of coins you hold and their amounts.

Step 2: Understand the difference between Funding account and Trading account

As a beginner, the most important thing to understand is the difference between these two accounts:

  • Funding account: Used for buying crypto, deposits, and withdrawals. USDT you just bought goes here by default.

  • Trading account: Used for spot trading and futures trading. To place an order, you first need to transfer funds from your Funding account.

The most common place where beginners get stuck is: the Assets page shows a USDT balance, but when you try to place an order it says "Insufficient balance." Most likely you did not transfer it, and the money is still sitting in your Funding account.

How to do it: On the Assets page, tap Funding account to see assets related to deposits and withdrawals. Tap Trading account to see the available balance you can use for orders.

Done when: You can clearly see the total asset value and know which account each part of the money is in.

Step 3: The Web3 wallet and exchange account are two separate systems

Another easy place to get confused: the OKX Web3 wallet is a separate system from the exchange account. The money you see on the exchange Assets page is not the same as the money in your Web3 wallet.

Web3 wallet funds must be checked separately on the wallet page. They are not included in the total asset value on the Assets page. If you cannot find a certain coin, it may not be added to your coin list, or the wallet may not support that network.

Done when: You can tell which assets are in your exchange account and which are in your Web3 wallet. Check Web3 wallet assets under Funds → Web3 Wallet. Check exchange account money on the Assets overview page.

How to verify you did it correctly

Open the Assets page and confirm you can see the total asset value and the list of coins you hold. If a coin was one you bought or deposited, you should see the matching amount in the list. If the amount matches, you are looking in the right place. If you do not see an expected coin, check whether it is in the Funding account (the default destination for deposits), or whether it was folded by the "Hide small assets" option.
