For institutional users registering with OKX, the key is not "how to go through the process" but "can all materials be prepared in advance". This is the Know Your Business (KYB) process, not individual KYC. The preparation cycle usually takes weeks, and a single missing document will hold things up. Here's what you need to prepare—just follow the checklist.

Step 1: Confirm your institution type and locate the verification portal

OKX has different documentation requirements for different types of institutions. First, determine which category you fall into: private company, private financial institution, family office, fund, trust, non-profit, listed company, state-owned enterprise, etc.

How to do it: Log into the OKX web platform (the institutional verification process is only available on the web). Click on the avatar dropdown menu, select [Verification] → [Institutional Verification] → [Verify Institution].

Completion criteria: You should be on the institutional verification information form page.

Precondition: You must have already completed individual account registration. Institutional verification is an upgrade on top of a personal account; you cannot skip personal registration.

Step 2: Prepare and submit basic company information

The following information needs to be prepared in advance and filled into the verification form:

  • Full company name (matching the registration certificate)

  • Registration number

  • Date of incorporation

  • Regulatory status (e.g., whether licensed)

  • Registered address

  • Principal place of business (if different from registered address, additional proof will be required)

Completion criteria: All fields filled in, no blanks.

Step 3: Submit key persons' identity information

For compliance and due diligence, OKX requires the identity and address information of key persons within the company. Persons to be covered include:

  • At least one company executive/manager (e.g., CEO, CFO, COO)

  • Directors (if any)

  • Ultimate Beneficial Owner(s) (UBO)

  • Authorized user(s)

For each person above, upload the front and back (or front only if no back) of their ID document.

Completion criteria: All required personnel information has been submitted, and the ID images are clear and legible.

Common reason for failure: The "ultimate beneficial owner" is not clearly identified. A UBO is a natural person holding more than 25% of the shares, not a legal entity. If the shareholder is another company, you must look through to the ultimate natural person.

Step 4: Scan and upload corporate documents

This is the most critical step and where most institutions get stuck. You need to upload scanned originals or clear photos of the following documents:

  • Certificate of Incorporation or Business Registration Certificate (or equivalent official document, such as business license)

  • Memorandum and Articles of Association

  • Register of Directors

  • Register of Members / Shareholder Register or a Beneficial Ownership Structure Chart (signed and dated within the past 12 months)

  • Proof of business address (if different from registered address)

Completion criteria: All documents uploaded successfully. Accepted formats are usually PDF or JPG, each file within the size limit.

Step 5: Sign and upload authorization documents

Download the template provided by OKX, sign it, and upload:

Required template:

  • Account Opening Authorization Letter (or a board resolution containing this authorization, equally valid)

Case A: Private financial institutions — additionally upload the FCCQ Wolfsberg Questionnaire or equivalent AML policy document, signed and dated by a senior compliance officer.

Completion criteria: Authorization document signed and uploaded.

How to confirm after completing these steps

After submitting all materials, you can follow up on the status in the [Verification] page. The review timeline depends mainly on the completeness of the materials. The OKX team will contact you via the registered email or through your account manager once the review is complete. If supplementary materials are needed, the team will reach out proactively.

Next step: After passing institutional verification, if your account tier reaches VIP 1 or above, you can apply for institutional products such as creating sub-accounts for asset management or applying for VIP loans. The referral code 24U2795 can be filled in when registering the individual account.
